Announced on 1 December 2025, the world’s first Harry Potter themed accommodation will be built at Legoland Deutschland Resort, in Günzburg, Bavaria. As of 12 October 2026, the Legoland Harry Potter hotel project is still “in development”: no opening date, no prices and no room count have been released. Here is what is confirmed, what is not, and where to stay in the meantime.

Harry Potter hotel in Germany: when will it open?
The short answer: no opening date has been announced. Neither the joint announcement by Merlin Entertainments and Warner Bros. Discovery nor the resort’s official page gives a day, a month or a year. The two partners only committed to revealing more details within twelve months of the 1 December 2025 announcement.
The dates circulating on travel websites are not backed by any official source. The park’s 2026 season ends on 8 November 2026, and the resort’s latest press releases, in July and September, make no mention of the Harry Potter accommodation. An opening in 2027 or later has been mentioned, without official confirmation. The resort has also opened bookings for its 2027 season, its 25th anniversary, without any Harry Potter offer.

What does the official announcement say?
On 1 December 2025, Merlin Entertainments, operator of the Legoland parks, and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences announced two projects at Legoland Deutschland Resort: the world’s first LEGO Harry Potter land and the first-ever Harry Potter themed guest accommodation. The word used is indeed accommodation, not hotel: the exact format, whether a full building, themed rooms or cottages, has not been specified.
It is the largest single investment in Merlin’s history at an existing site, according to the group. Its chief executive, Fiona Eastwood, put it this way: “We are incredibly excited to unveil LEGO Harry Potter on an epic scale as we accelerate the growth of LEGOLAND Resorts.” For Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, Peter van Roden promises that fans will be able to “step into the LEGO Harry Potter world they have been building for years and experience the Wizarding World like never before”.
Since then, the project’s official page states that the land and the accommodation are “in development”, with no further detail. It only offers a sign-up to Legoland Deutschland’s general newsletter, not a dedicated alert for when bookings open. The 24-second teaser released by the resort, in computer-generated imagery, shows neither a building nor a room.
The world-first claim rests on a simple fact: no other official Harry Potter themed accommodation exists today. The Universal theme park lands and the Studio Tours in London and Tokyo do not offer any, and the “inspired” rooms found elsewhere carry no licence.
Hogwarts house rooms, an unconfirmed idea
Many websites already describe rooms in the colours of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. This idea does not appear in the official announcement: at this stage, it remains a hypothesis. The number of rooms has not been disclosed either.
The partners only speak of “a magical fusion of creativity, wizardry and play”, where Hogwarts will meet LEGO bricks for the first time at a Legoland resort. Brick-built decor and family rooms are likely, as in the resort’s current accommodation, but nothing has been shown.
Prices: no rates published so far
No prices have been published and bookings are not open. The figures circulating online for a night at the Harry Potter hotel are estimates, with no official standing.
The only verifiable benchmark: on 12 October 2026, legoland.de was advertising short breaks from €87 per person in the resort’s current accommodation, where rooms include breakfast. This rate does not apply to the Harry Potter accommodation, whose positioning has not been announced.
Meanwhile, Legoland’s themed hotels
Anyone looking for a “Harry Potter castle” in Germany will already find at Legoland Deutschland Resort a fully themed holiday village, the Feriendorf, around ten minutes’ walk from the park. It brings together three castles, a pirate hotel, a NINJAGO quarter, a forest lodge, themed cottages and a campsite. None has any link to the saga, but the principle is the same: extending the day at the park inside a stage set.
The three castles, the King’s Castle, the Knights’ Castle and the Dragon Castle, are the closest thing to a castle stay. The 30 m² rooms sleep four, with a parents’ area and a children’s corner with bunk beds; those in the Knights’ Castle sleep up to six, and the superior rooms in the King’s Castle measure 40 m².
The Pirateninsel Hotel lines up colourful harbour façades around a pirate ship that doubles as a playground. Its 30 m² rooms for four and its 40 m² superior rooms for five carry through the ship’s cabin decor, treasure map included.
At the NINJAGO Quartier, the children’s room recreates a diamond cave guarded by Lloyd and Kai, two heroes of the LEGO series. Rooms measure 27 m² for four, with a terrace or balcony. The Waldabenteuer Lodge, the forest adventure lodge, offers 28 m² rooms themed around forest animals, on the edge of a birch grove.
In the evening, the village keeps children busy after the park closes: pirate minigolf and bowling, a treetop trail and plenty of playgrounds. Room details were checked on legoland.de on 12 October 2026.
The rise of immersive hospitality
Themed hotels appeal to guests ready to choose a destination for the story it tells as much as for its comfort. Günzburg, between Munich and Stuttgart
The resort is located at LEGOLAND Allee 1, in Günzburg, in Bavarian Swabia, around an hour and a half by road from both Munich and Stuttgart. The town is served by train from both cities, and Munich is the most convenient airport for international travellers.
Our advice: to stay informed, sign up to Legoland Deutschland’s general newsletter, the only option currently offered on the official page, and be wary of any booking offer that does not come from the resort itself. Given the popularity of the franchise, the first dates are likely to sell out fast.
