The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the Cap d’Antibes bans photo shoots: what its rules really say

The rule has been the talk of the autumn, often summed up as a war on influencers. The official wording at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, on the Cap d’Antibes, is more nuanced: photo shoots are banned unless management gives permission. Here is what the house rules really say, what is still allowed and what awaits guests in 2027.

In brief
  • 📜 The rule · photo shoots banned on the estate unless the hotel’s management authorises them.
  • 📸 What is still allowed · guests’ holiday snaps: the text only targets photo shoots.
  • 🛎️ How to ask · go through the concierge, who can pass on the details of the hotel’s partner photographer.
  • 🤫 Why · to preserve the peace and privacy of all guests, according to the official FAQ.
  • 🗓️ 2027 season · 18 April to 17 October 2027, rates not yet published.

The hotel’s FAQ, word for word

The rule fits into two sentences, published in the FAQ section of the official website under the question “Can I arrange a photo shoot at the hotel?”: “To preserve the peace and privacy of all our guests, photo shoots are not permitted on the property. For any special requests, please seek authorization from management.”

Put plainly, organised shoots are off limits across the estate, and anything out of the ordinary needs the management’s approval. The same answer sets out the procedure: contact the hotel’s concierge, who reviews the request and, where appropriate, passes on the details of the house’s exclusive partner photographer. The hotel is run by general manager Sophie Volant.

Yes, going by the text. This is not a blanket ban on taking pictures: the FAQ targets photo shoots, meaning organised sessions, not the keepsake a guest takes home from their stay. Even a shoot is not ruled out automatically: it remains possible with the management’s approval, and the hotel may then point you towards its own partner photographer.

There is no shortage of backdrops, from the Grande Allée linking the white château in its pine grove to the Eden-Roc pavilion perched above the sea, down to the coves and rocks of the Cap d’Antibes.

Peace and privacy: the hotel’s stated reason

The justification comes down to a single phrase: “the peace and privacy of all our guests”. The estate has 40 rooms, 57 junior suites, 11 suites and 4 private villas, including the newest, Villa La Guettière, making 112 keys between the pine forest and the Mediterranean.

While the rule is often presented as a crackdown on content creators, the text itself names no one: it applies to any unauthorised photo shoot, whoever is behind the camera.

Smart dress, with rules for each restaurant

Photo shoots are not the only house custom set out in the FAQ. The hotel asks guests for smart, elegant attire, with specific guidelines for each of its four restaurants: the Eden-Roc Restaurant, the one-Michelin-starred Louroc, Giovanni’s and The Grill.

Add to that five bars, the Bellini, La Rotonde, the Pool Bar, The Grill Bar and the Eden-Roc Lounge, plus the Dior Spa Eden-Roc, open to non-residents from 10am to 3pm.

The heated seawater pool, carved into the rock facing the Mediterranean and the bay of Juan-les-Pins, has its own rules too. Children are admitted from 8am to 7pm, accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children per adult, and there is no lifeguard on duty.
