From an 1803 coaching inn to a resort
The name comes from the “Drei Mohren” inn, founded in 1803 by the Jäger family: King Ludwig II of Bavaria used to stop here and always slept in room 106. In 1959, the Swiss merchant Dieter Künstner bought the estate and turned it into a modern hotel. His daughter Tina Künstner-Mantl took it over in 1998 with her husband Klaus Mantl, and the MOHR life resort was born of that handover, before being extended in 2006.
The estate still owns four mountain lakes, the Blindsee, the Weissensee, the Finstersee and the Mittersee, along with their fishing rights. Guests can paddleboard on the Blindsee free of charge, and the family also breeds western horses: you can try your hand at reining.
The MOHR escape and its 22-metre pool
The MOHR escape is a separate building, reserved for guests aged 16 and over. Its outdoor infinity pool measures 22 m by 7, with massage jets, and is kept at 33 °C all year round: at dawn, mist rises from the valley at the foot of the Zugspitze and the Sonnenspitze. It deserves its place among the world’s most beautiful hotel infinity pools. The panoramic bio sauna and the glass-walled relaxation areas extend the view.
A 3,300 m² spa with nine saunas
The spa covers 3,300 m², two floors and the MOHR escape building. There are six water areas, including the 17 x 7 m MOHR Aquarium indoor pool, a small outdoor pool at 33 °C and a children’s pool, nine saunas and baths (a Finnish sauna at 90 °C, a bio sauna, steam baths), twelve relaxation rooms and 24 treatments. Opened in 2023, the Moroccan-inspired Spa Andalus adds a clay sauna, a stone and salt sauna and a vaulted whirlpool. The MOHR intensity gym spans 330 m², facing the Zugspitze.
Rooms and suites facing the peaks
The rooms are spread across the historic MOHR heart section, the MOHR lifestyle south wing and MOHR evolution, with more than twenty categories from 18 to 124 m². Our advice: book at least a Mountain View (30 to 40 m², balcony facing the Zugspitze), as the entry-level Cottage and Ranch rooms look onto the street and have no balcony. The suites go up to the 90 m² MOHR 007, with a glass showcase for parking your car that can be seen from the living room, and three penthouses are located in the village. The rooms are not air-conditioned, a deliberate choice at 1,000 m altitude.
Gourmet full board, from morning to night
Every rate includes the “Verwöhnpension”: a breakfast buffet from 7.30am to 11am, a light lunch with homemade pastries from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, then a multi-course evening menu from 6.30pm, mixing Tyrolean specialities, game, fish and Mediterranean touches. A table is allocated for the whole stay and smart dress is requested at dinner. The bar, open from 9am to midnight, keeps the evening going around the lounge’s central fireplace.
Summer and winter, facing the Zugspitze

In winter, the Grubigstein lift is almost opposite the hotel: 27 km of slopes in Lermoos and 205 km with the Top Snow Card, with a free ski bus at the door. In summer, there are guided hikes included, a 9-hole golf course co-founded by the hotel four minutes away, mountain biking and indoor padel. See also the new luxury ski hotels for winter 2026-2027.

Why we give it 9.4 out of 10
The MOHR life resort combines an exceptional view, a very large spa and full board that makes you forget about restaurant bills. We deduct a few tenths for the entry-level rooms without a view, the lack of air conditioning in summer and the minimum stays over the festive season. In the same valley, the hotel eriro in Ehrwald, nine suites at the foot of the Zugspitze, plays the intimacy card.
