At the Ritz, savouries return to Salon Proust

Olivier Lainé has created a French-style afternoon tea, savoury and sweet, inspired by the house’s five o’clock tea. The menu opens with blue lobster French toast, smoked trout roe and a salmon-filled croustade, followed by a buckwheat baba, a herbaceous kiwi and “my dad’s chocolate charlotte”.
At €125, it is the most expensive tea in our survey, but it includes a glass of brut champagne, or an alcohol-free sparkling drink, and a hot drink. It is also the longest service, from 1pm to 7pm, amid wood panelling, antique books and a fireplace. For the rest of the palace, read our review of the Ritz Paris.
Salon Proust page →Marie-Antoinette takes over the Jardin d’Hiver

Matthieu Carlin devised this afternoon tea in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik, inspired by the queen’s tastes and served on the Marie-Antoinette collection by the Faïencerie de Gien. On the menu: Comté gougère, lobster bite, truffle mimosa tartlet, then a toasted vanilla Saint-Honoré, a Marie-Antoinette waffle and an apple tart to share.
Allow €108 with a hot drink and a BLA sparkling tea, or €138 with a glass of Rare Champagne Rosé 2014. The edition ends on 22 November 2026 ; two sittings from 3pm, by reservation.
Jardin d’Hiver page →Cédric Grolet’s sculpted fruit at Le Dalí

At Le Dalí restaurant, designed by Philippe Starck, Cédric Grolet’s trompe-l’œil sculpted fruit is displayed on a silver tree. The savoury side falls to executive chef Amaury Bouhours, with seasonal fruit and pastries served throughout the tea.
The €95 per person include a coffee, a Betjeman & Barton tea or a hot chocolate from La Manufacture Alain Ducasse; a glass of champagne is extra, from €36. On Sundays, service is limited to 4.30pm-5.15pm.
Café Antonia, three acts by Maxence Barbot

At Café Antonia, Maxence Barbot orchestrates an afternoon tea in three acts : a savoury interlude, a refreshing pre-dessert, then a selection of signature pastries that change with the seasons.
The €95 includes a glass of champagne or an alcohol-free sparkling drink, served daily from 3.30pm to 6pm. Advance booking is required, on +33 1 53 43 43 42.
Le Bristol afternoon tea page →The Peninsula’s L’Heure du Thé at €85
Beneath the glass roof of Le Lobby, pastry chef Anne Coruble and executive chef David Bizet serve the classic L’Heure du Thé : salmon gravlax, flaky brioche with foie gras and port, wild mushroom, then a fig nonnette, a candied Tatin apple and an Earl Grey crunch.
The price, €85, includes hot drinks and water. The Prestige version (€105) adds a flute of Deutz Peninsula champagne or the cocktail of the month; the Gourmand version (€105), an extra pastry.
Le Lobby page →Pink October at Les Salons du Prince

Until 31 October, Timothy Lam and executive chef Simon Havage serve every Saturday and Sunday a Pink October afternoon tea, with part of the proceeds going to La Ligue contre le cancer, the French cancer charity. The sequence follows a precise order: beetroot and stracciatella tartlet, lobster roll with burnt lemon, a grape, verjuice and hibiscus pre-dessert, then vanilla flower or blackcurrant, yoghurt and speculoos.
It costs €85 with a hot drink and a cold drink. Les Salons du Prince draw on the former residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte, as do the palace’s other restaurants.
Plaza Athénée: Angelo Musa’s tea from €75

In La Galerie, Angelo Musa, executive pastry chef, serves two options: Le Goûter d’Angelo Musa, a selection of fine pastries with a hot or cold drink (€75), and Le Goûter du Plaza Athénée, which adds a finger sandwich (€95). With a glass of champagne, allow €95 and €115.
The tea is served daily from 2pm to 7pm, with a children’s tea at €35 and teas selected by Lydia Gautier. The signature 100 % Vanille dessert can also be ordered à la carte.
Plaza Athénée afternoon tea page →Weekends under Fabrice Hyber’s glass roof

On the Left Bank, Le Saint-Germain at the Mandarin Oriental Lutetia serves Nicolas Guercio’s afternoon tea beneath a glass roof decorated by the artist Fabrice Hyber. The sweet side brings together scones, raspberry jam and Isigny cream, an apple and buckwheat tart and a rice pudding viennoiserie; the savoury side, a Queen Elizabeth sandwich and salmon rillettes with yuzu.
It costs €75, or €95 with a flute of champagne, and is served only on Saturdays and Sundays, from 3pm to 6pm.
