Gstaad, the mountain resort in the canton of Bern, becomes the sixth address in the Fouquet’s Collection, after Paris, New York, Courchevel, St Barts and Mykonos. The building was one of the Ultima group’s flagship hotels; it is reborn under the Fouquet’s banner as part of a strategic partnership between Ultima and Barrière.

In Barrière’s press release, the group’s chief executive Grégory Rabuel describes Gstaad as “a new stage in our international ambitions”. To get a feel for the house style, read our review of the Fouquet’s Paris hotel, the brand’s Parisian address on the Champs-Élysées.

The private chalet comes on top of the hotel’s 33 bedrooms. Set in the centre of the village, it spans 1,500 m² over four floors, has nine bedrooms and sleeps up to 20, enough to gather an extended family or a group of friends under one roof.

Inside, a private cinema and a nightclub sit alongside a games room and a spa. A chef can be placed at guests’ disposal, on request, for meals in the chalet.

What awaits in a spa of more than 800 m²?

Five treatment rooms, including a suite for two, offer treatments by the Augustinus Bader brand. For exercise, the hotel lines up a gym equipped by Technogym, two Pilates Reformer machines and a yoga studio; a beauty salon completes the picture.

For the season, the hotel hosts an exclusive pop-up of Zuma, the contemporary Japanese restaurant brand, with a restaurant, a bar and a heated terrace. From the open kitchen, the menu brings together sushi, sashimi, tartares, wagyu and dishes grilled on the robata, the Japanese charcoal grill.
