Following the honey-infused afternoon tea inspired by the Bee collection, The Peninsula Paris and Chaumet continue their creative dialogue with the 2026 Christmas log. Entitled “L’Épi de Blé”, it is crafted by pastry chef Anne Coruble, and priced at €120 for eight people. Pre-orders open on 1 December, with collection at the palace from 21 to 31 December.
The wheat ear, a Chaumet emblem since 1811
The wheat ear is one of the founding motifs of the Place Vendôme jeweller: Nitot, its founder, originally designed it for Empress Josephine, and Chaumet has since made it a recurring theme across its tiaras and brooches. Anne Coruble sculpts it in pastry form, with golden ears of wheat standing proudly atop the log like a piece of fine jewellery.
A comforting creation rather than a mere showcase
While many palace hotels opt for extravagant showmanship, the chef remains true to harvest flavours: cereals, toasted notes and subtle sweetness, in a dessert designed to be shared rather than simply admired. This is the guiding principle she has maintained since arriving on Avenue Kléber, which earned her the title of Gault&Millau Pastry Chef of the Year 2026, awarded in November 2025.
Following “Joyau des Pins”
Last year, her “Joyau des Pins” log, featuring thirteen layers as a tribute to the thirteen Provençal desserts, was priced at €105. The 2026 price increases to €120, positioning it firmly within the range for Parisian palace Christmas logs, which now generally span from €100 to €200. Production quantities have not been disclosed.
Where and how to book
The yule log can be pre-ordered starting 1 December directly from the palace at 19, avenue Kléber in the 16th arrondissement, with collection on-site between 21 and 31 December.
