At the Royal Madeleine, the Signature Suite is tucked away in the Passage Puteaux: an 85 m² duplex with its own private entrance, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a marble fireplace, a stone’s throw from the Madeleine. Raphaël Simon, our tester, spent the night of 22 to 23 October 2026 there, with an evening at the Talaé bar and breakfast at Arboré. Here is our full review: the suite, its private spa, the bar, breakfast, the hotel and our detailed rating.

A hidden apartment in the Passage Puteaux
The Signature Suite is not in the hotel’s main building. It occupies a space of its own in the Passage Puteaux, one of the neighbourhood’s historic arcades, almost a secret. You enter through your own door, from the passage or from rue Pasquier: it feels like a private Parisian apartment, with the services of a hotel all around it.
The welcome sets the tone from the doorstep: a box of macarons bearing the house monogram, a treat from La Maison du Chocolat and a handwritten note were waiting for us on the lounge table. The receptionist then explains how the jacuzzi and sauna work, which is no small detail: here, the spa is part of the suite.
The lounge, its fireplace and private bar
The lounge is the centrepiece of the suite. Designed by Effe Architecture, it brings together long sheer curtains, pale wood panelling, a caramel velvet sofa with graphic cushions and, at its centre, a veined marble fireplace set into the wall. The moulded ceiling and herringbone parquet recall a Haussmann apartment; the furniture, by contrast, is resolutely contemporary.
The suite even has its own private bar, a lacquered niche in eau-de-nil green lit from within, with its decanters, shaker and drinks list: according to the hotel, most of the drinks are collaborations created for the house. A large screen, adjustable lighting, a seating area facing the fireplace: everything is designed for spending the evening in without going out again.

A private jacuzzi and sauna inside the suite
This is the big surprise of the stay: a genuine spa, inside the suite. The stainless steel jacuzzi is enormous: several people could easily fit in it. The water is properly hot, the tub spotlessly clean, and the room stays cool thanks to the air conditioning, which avoids the stifling atmosphere of spas that are too small.
Next door, a private wooden sauna, big enough for three, and a walk-in shower behind a glass screen. White mouldings, pale stone, an organically shaped mirror: the room has the elegance of a hotel spa, with added privacy.

Upstairs, the bedroom and the bathroom
A sculptural staircase with illuminated steps leads upstairs, where you will find the bedroom: a large 180 x 200 bed, a rounded headboard in pale wood, travertine bedside tables and sheer curtains running the full width. The suite is very high-tech: light sensors, a screen, and even the time displayed in the mirror.
The bathroom plays the marble card: gold-veined marble, gilded taps, a freestanding bath and Isula bath products. Our only reservation concerns the light: the suite is a little short on windows, and daylight remains discreet; you mostly live by the very carefully designed artificial lighting.
Talaé, the botanical bar, and breakfast
In the evening, we headed to Talaé, the hotel’s cocktail bar. Its name comes from the Latin for a cutting: this is a botanical bar, surrounded by plants, whose covered terrace, open all year round, looks onto the Passage Puteaux. The mixologists serve creative plant-based cocktails alongside sharing plates. We had a charcuterie board, tapas, a salad and two cocktails: a perfect evening, peaceful, in the heart of a very lively neighbourhood.
In the morning, breakfast is served at Arboré, the hotel’s restaurant, a winter garden planted with lemon trees beneath a skylight, where chef Clément Lafarge presides. A buffet of charcuterie, cheeses and fruit, pastries, coffee and orange juice: a gentle start to the day before heading back to the suite, where check-out is at noon.
The hotel: lobby, pool, spa and gym
Completely restructured in 2018, the Hôtel & Spa Royal Madeleine has 60 rooms and suites, from the Deluxe room to the Duplex room with rooftop views, up to La Suite, 52 m² for four people. On the ground floor, the lobby and its lounge, with teal sofas, a fireplace and graphic wallpaper, feel more like a family home than a hotel lobby.
The hotel spa hides a real swimming pool: a 9 by 2.60 metre lap pool, alongside a stone wall and hanging greenery, in a Tuscan garden setting with wicker armchairs. The hotel offers it in private 30-minute slots, so that everyone can enjoy it in peace. We swam there in the late afternoon, before our evening at the bar.
Next to the pool, the spa brings together a sauna, a treatment room and a gym. Massages and à la carte treatments are by appointment, as are sessions with the hotel’s osteopath. The gym, reserved for guests and open from 10am to 10pm, offers an elliptical trainer, a stepper, dumbbells, resistance bands and yoga mats. The one drawback: it is a little small for a proper workout. To compare with other addresses in the capital, see our ranking of the best hotels in Paris and the palace hotels of Paris.
Why 9.9 out of 10
The Royal Madeleine’s Signature Suite scores 9.9 out of 10: a secret address in the heart of the 8th, a supremely elegant duplex, a private spa that rivals those of the grandest hotels and faultless service. Only the gym, which is a little small, and the discreet daylight in the suite keep it from a perfect score. For a night for two in Paris, it is one of the most accomplished experiences we have ever tested; it fully deserves its place among our hotels with a private spa.
