The hotel rises at the heart of the Taipei Dome complex in the Xinyi district, and some of its rooms frame Taipei 101 in the distance. It has been developed with Farglory Group: this is the two partners’ second InterContinental collaboration, after the InterContinental Kaohsiung.

IHG presents it as the brand’s flagship in the Taiwanese market and as a step in the expansion of its luxury portfolio in Greater China. The opening coincides with the InterContinental brand’s 80th anniversary.

The hotel’s concept, “In Taipei, For Taipei”, draws on the city’s architecture, culture and collective memory. It shows from the lobby installation, a glass chandelier suspended above a golden sphere, right through to the musical motifs of the event spaces, which include a large, flexible ballroom.

“More than a hotel in Taipei, it has to be a hotel that belongs to Taipei,” sums up Robbert Manussen, the hotel’s general manager and IHG’s Area General Manager Luxury & Lifestyle for Taiwan, in the announcement.

The top of the range takes the form of residential-style suites from 76 m², with a full kitchen, dining area and private laundry. For the night of 26 to 27 October 2026, the 1 King Classic room was listed on ihg.com on 12 October at 12,763 TWD, around €357, taxes and fees included, and at 12,125 TWD on the IHG One Rewards member rate.

The hotel announces seven dining concepts spread over three levels. On the first floor, NTD Eatery serves Italian cuisine and Thea Lounge offers teas, coffees, pastries and cocktails. On the fifth, Rough Cuts grills over wood fire and charcoal, Yi Social lays out an all-day international buffet and Simple Sips serves as the bar.

The second floor belongs to chef Akira Back, with two restaurants: Akira Back, Japanese, and Dosa by Akira Back, Korean. According to the information available, they will not open until after November, so the first guests will discover the other five venues first.

For relaxation, the hotel relies on an indoor pool beneath a rippling metal ceiling and a fitness centre; no spa has been announced. The Club InterContinental lounge, with picture windows opening onto the city, completes the picture.

How many InterContinentals does Taiwan have?

With Taipei, the brand now has four InterContinental hotels on the island: Kaohsiung opened in 2021, Taichung in 2024 and New Taipei Hot Spring, the brand’s first hot-spring resort in Taiwan, in 2025. IHG has also recently signed the Hualien Farglory Hotel, under the Vignette Collection banner.

This pace builds on IHG’s five signings in Taiwan announced in August. Elsewhere in Asia, the IHG group is also pressing ahead with the villas of the InterContinental Sapa in Vietnam and its Noted Collection in Tokyo.
