- Le Château & Spa La Borde, in Sologne, is a charming hotel set around a lake, 20 minutes from the Château de Chambord, with a spa, gourmet restaurant and numerous free activities.
- Our rating after our stay: 9.7/10. Highlights: the Mémoire restaurant, the spa (MyBlend range) and the magical setting of the château.
- Two honest drawbacks: the poorly maintained quiet pool and a slightly underwhelming breakfast.
We had a stay at the Château & Spa La Borde, in Sologne, a charming estate set around a lake. Between the magical setting of the château, a MyBlend spa and a profusion of free activities, the address is a real favourite. Here is our complete review, with its many assets and its two minor drawbacks.
The château, a simply magical setting
Upon arrival, the beauty of the château and its grounds takes your breath away. The estate is organised around a lake, just 20 minutes from the famous Château de Chambord, and boasts vast gardens. The views are magical everywhere, and the atmosphere is peaceful and timeless.

The room: Suite 26
The hotel has 35 rooms and suites, averaging around 40 m², divided into five categories, from Classic to Family Suite. We stayed in Suite 26. The room, air-conditioned, ultra-clean and very well-equipped, lacked no amenities. A well-appointed bathroom, comfortable bedding, and a pretty view of the estate: nothing to fault on the accommodation front.

The spa, our favourite
The Spa de l’Orangerie, located in a former orangery and signed MyBlend & Alaena, was one of our great favourites: very clean and very professional, with a high-quality treatment using the MyBlend range, which we love. A sauna and hammam are available to guests (aged 16 and over), as is a beautiful relaxation room. Open daily from 10 am to 7 pm, it’s a true moment of relaxation.

The Mémoire restaurant, a huge favourite
This is THE big favourite of the stay. The Mémoire restaurant is simply excellent: very refined cuisine, focused on seasonal vegetables and fruits partly harvested from the château’s vegetable garden, adorable and professional staff, and above all, an absolutely incredible setting. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, every dish was a success. Dinner is served from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and a brunch is offered on Sundays. Not to be missed under any circumstances.

Abundant free activities
Another major strength of La Borde is the profusion of free activities. Bicycles, table tennis, a rowboat and a boat freely available on the water, but also a tennis court designed by Guy Forget and a gym set up in a former English greenhouse facing the château, open from 7 am to 8 pm. The 40-hectare estate is perfect for walking, running, and observing deer, and a seasonal Kids Club keeps children entertained. In the evening, the bar opens for guests in a charming setting. Enough to fill an entire stay without opening your wallet.

The two swimming pools
The estate has two swimming pools: a lively family pool and a quiet, secluded pool. The concept of separating the two pools is very well thought out. A small drawback, however: during our visit, the quiet pool could have benefited from more regular maintenance · a simple cleaning robot used daily would suffice. We would also have appreciated an outdoor shower near both pools.

Breakfast
Another area for improvement is breakfast. We found it a little underwhelming, with a selection that could be expanded and fruit juices that we would have preferred fresher. A detail that is easy to refine for an establishment of this calibre.

✅ The Mémoire restaurant, excellent (cuisine, setting, service)
✅ The very clean and professional spa (MyBlend range, sauna, hammam)
✅ The numerous free activities (bikes, tennis, table tennis, rowboat)
✅ The air-conditioned room, ultra-clean and very well-equipped
✅ The bar open to guests in the evening
⚠️ Breakfast could be a little more generous, with fresh fruit juices
⚠️ We would have liked an outdoor shower near the pools
Our review of Château & Spa La Borde
Château & Spa La Borde in Sologne is an address with immense charm, driven by a magical setting, an exceptional spa, and a restaurant, Mémoire, which is worth the visit in itself. The numerous free activities make it an ideal place for a countryside getaway, whether with family or as a couple. It’s almost perfect: the maintenance of the quiet pool and a more generous breakfast would make it flawless. Our score: 9.7/10.
