The address reshaping the 17th
In the 17th arrondissement, where the Batignolles meet Parc Monceau, a building that gives little away from the street has been entirely reinvented and is now drawing the attention of those in the know. La Fondation is a 10,000 square metre world of its own, where hotel-keeping, sport, wellbeing, food and even offices come together to make a different way of living in Paris. From the entrance you understand that you are not here simply to sleep: you are here to live, to breathe, to give yourself a pause in which every gesture means something. The place is far larger than it looks from outside.

A slow breath in a breathless Paris
At the heart of the building, one level down, sits what many already consider one of the most impressive water spaces in the capital: a semi-Olympic pool, where the water draws long calm lines in an almost sacred quiet. The light slides over it like a liquid veil. You swim for a long time, deeply, without feeling any pressure from the world outside.

The treatments combine the know-how of Ho Karan, specialists in anti-stress protocols, with the precision of Typology and its minimal, highly effective formulas. Hammam, sauna, bespoke massages, facial rituals, guided breathing: everything is built to bring the body back to its natural rhythm.
A sports club built like a village
La Fondation made a bold bet: to put physical activity at the centre of its identity. And nothing here was done by halves. The sports club, open to outside members as well as to hotel guests, works like a vertical village given over to movement.
The Technogym equipment, chosen with almost obsessive care, sits in a setting where pale wood meets the generous volumes of Atelier MKD. Five studios follow one another, each with its own energy. From morning yoga as the light comes up, to dance sessions where the music pulses through the walls, to high-intensity training that pushes limits without forcing them, everything is made to give you the urge to move.
The place also holds its most spectacular secret: an indoor climbing wall, a living sculpture whose height and lines invite you to play as much as to push yourself. You climb it the way you enter a vertical choreography, in an almost meditative mood.
La Fondation has found the rare balance between performance and gentleness: the effort is there, but the pressure disappears. The coaches are demanding without ever being hard, and the energy is collective without being intrusive. You feel carried, guided and encouraged, as though you belonged to a large Parisian sporting family.
Rooms that work as quiet refuges
As you go up through the floors, the noise of the world falls away completely. The 58 rooms and suites feel more like refuges than hotel rooms. Pale woodwork sits alongside textured fabrics, clean lines meet discreet artworks, and the colours stay in natural tones.
The bed seems to float, the curtains filter the light with an almost japandi sensitivity, and the bathrooms, vast, mineral and perfectly lit, become rooms in their own right. Deep tubs, enveloping showers, Typology products. Comfort speaks a very controlled language here, without ostentation, and never so minimal that it turns cold.
The room at La Fondation calms you down. It invites you to slow, to read, to write, to watch television or to do nothing at all, which is an absolute and often forgotten luxury.
Breakfast on the eighth floor
Every morning La Fondation offers something rare: breakfast served on the eighth floor, in a room full of light, just high enough for Paris to show itself differently. From up there the Eiffel Tower cuts into the sky, while Montmartre rises gently, like a living postcard.
What arrives is a menu rather than a buffet: golden pastries, cold-pressed juices, sourdough breads still warm, immunity shots. But what strikes you most is the sense of being suspended above the city without having to put up with its noise.
In summer the experience goes further still: breakfast moves onto the terrace, in the open air, where the panorama meets the calm of a Parisian morning.
