On 29 September 2026, IHG Hotels & Resorts signed San Bernardo, Vignette Collection, a 67-room hotel expected in March 2028 in central Madrid, a stone’s throw from the Gran Vía. It will occupy a former heritage office building, partially protected, on calle de San Bernardo, and will become the fourth Spanish address for this independent hotel collection.

An office building transformed into a hotel
The project preserves the building’s key architectural elements while adding contemporary design. Its core will be an interior courtyard, covered with a glass roof in the renderings, which will house the all-day dining restaurant. A lounge bar and a fitness room will also be featured. IHG has not disclosed the architect, the building’s construction year, or its former occupants.
Hotel Collection International at the helm
The hotel will be operated by Hotel Collection International, one of IHG’s largest franchisees in Spain, which already manages Finca Banyols in Mallorca, the country’s first Vignette Collection property. For Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe for IHG, Madrid is one of Europe’s most dynamic luxury hotel markets. Real estate consultancy Catella advised on the transaction.
Vignette Collection arrives in Spain
Launched in 2021, Vignette Collection brings together independent hotels that retain their name and character under the IHG banner. As of 30 June 2026, it featured 38 open hotels and 46 in the pipeline. In Spain, San Bernardo joins Finca Banyols, Casa del Compositor in Jerez and Hacienda de la Vega in Carmona.
