Two major openings for Mandarin Oriental in Italy
Hotel group Mandarin Oriental is accelerating its development in Italy, one of the most coveted markets in ultra-luxury. The brand, renowned for its Asian service and exceptional addresses, is preparing two anticipated openings for 2027: a hotel in the heart of Rome and a signature rebirth in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the pearl of the Dolomites. To prepare for these launches, the group has just appointed the two men who will take the helm.
Nicola Abate in Rome, Mirko Cattini in Cortina
Nicola Abate has been appointed general manager of the future Mandarin Oriental, Rome. In Cortina d’Ampezzo, Mirko Cattini is taking over the management of Mandarin Oriental, Cristallo, housed in the legendary palace of the same name, a monument of alpine hospitality. Both directors share a profile sought after by the group: extensive experience in international hotel management combined with a deep knowledge of the Italian market, essential for embodying the brand’s exacting standards across both destinations.
Rome and Cortina, two faces of Italian luxury
The choice of these two cities is far from trivial. Rome offers Mandarin Oriental an urban showcase in one of the most visited cultural capitals in the world. Cortina combines alpine prestige with sporting relevance ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. By entrusting these addresses to seasoned directors today, the group is giving itself time to build teams and a service culture worthy of its ambitions. See you in 2027 to discover the result.
