During the residency, resort guests can join an ALAM Pilates class and enjoy the Inner & Outer Glow Ritual, an exclusive treatment created for the occasion. Gua Sha, at the heart of the ritual, is a massage rooted in Chinese tradition: the skin of the face is smoothed with a flat stone with rounded edges.

The treatment opens with guided breathing, followed by lymphatic drainage using ALAM’s signature Gua Sha which, according to the hotel, boosts circulation, reduces water retention and brings radiance to the skin. It ends with an organic superfood elixir, blended to suit each guest’s goals. Allow €330 for 60 minutes and €390 for 90 minutes.

ALAM describes itself as a luxury wellness brand rooted in Dubai and the Netherlands; its name means “nature” in Malay. It sells plant-based products and Gua Sha stones. Its founder links nutrition, beauty and movement: for her, outer beauty comes from inner balance.

The brand already knows the group well: it hosted a Gua Sha masterclass at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach for Global Wellness Day 2025.

Designed, like the rest of the interiors, by the Gilles & Boissier studio, the spa has seven treatment rooms. Its hydrotherapy area brings together a Turkish bath, sauna, cold plunge pool, ice fountain and vitality pool, next to a gym open around the clock. The menu takes its cue from the landscape, from the Energy of the Tramuntana massage to the Among Pines & Rocks ritual, with Biologique Recherche treatments among them.

The Hotel Formentor was the work of an Argentine, Adan Diehl, who settled in Mallorca in 1926 with his wife María Elena Popolicio. It opened on 24 August 1929, and its first guests arrived by boat: the road to Pollença was only completed six months later. The land had belonged to the poet Miquel Costa i Llobera, author of “Lo Pi de Formentor” (The Pine of Formentor).

The resort sits on a 40-hectare private estate, at the heart of a 486-hectare nature reserve on the island’s northern tip, in the Serra de Tramuntana, the UNESCO-listed mountain range. It has its own one-kilometre private beach, an hour’s drive from Palma airport.

The hotel has welcomed Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne, Claudia Cardinale and Jane Birkin. The couturier Jean Patou even designed trousers named “Formentor” here.

Writers had their gatherings here too: the Formentor Prize, created in 1961, went first to Jorge Luis Borges and Samuel Beckett, and Mario Vargas Llosa and Octavio Paz also passed through.

Renovated by Estudio Lamela and LEED Gold certified, a sustainable building label, the hotel reopened under the Four Seasons flag in August 2024. It has 110 rooms and suites, all with a sea-facing terrace, including 31 suites. On 15 October 2026, it received two MICHELIN Keys, the distinction the guide reserves for hotels.

At the table, Shima serves Nikkei cuisine, a marriage of Japan and Peru; Mel focuses on farm produce, while Llum i Sal specialises in fish and rice dishes facing the beach. Dinners are also held at Finca Cases Velles, a 15th-century wine estate.

On the official website, the last bookable night is 31 October to 1 November 2026: the resort then closes for the winter. It usually reopens in spring (on 18 March this year), but no 2027 date has been published yet. On 20 October, the night of 24 to 25 October for two adults in a 40 m² Pine-View room, the most affordable, was listed at €1,435 before tax, or €1,587 including tax.

Elsewhere on the island, the arrival of Jumeirah Port Sóller shows how strongly Mallorca draws the major groups. For the rest of the country, see our selection of the best hotels in Spain, from Madrid to the islands.
