The Six Senses Loire Valley hotel will open in mid to late 2028: 50 keys and a 1,670 m² spa in Sologne

The Six Senses Loire Valley will not open before mid to late 2028, according to the official website of Les Bordes Estate. Announced in 2019 for 2022, the resort will take shape around the Château Bel-Air in Saint-Laurent-Nouan (Loir-et-Cher), across some 560 hectares of Sologne forest. The project now comprises 50 keys, a spa of about 1,670 m² and 52 residences.

The hotel’s page on the Les Bordes Estate website, consulted on 13 October 2026, now announces an opening in “mid to late 2028”. Two other dates are still in circulation: the residences sales website shows a 2027 opening, and the pipeline of Six Senses, an IHG brand, released in early October, places the launch in the third quarter of 2027. The most recent date published by the estate’s owner is therefore 2028, with no month specified.

The estate belongs to the London-based fund RoundShield Partners. When Six Senses unveiled the project in 2019, the opening was scheduled for 2022. At the commercial launch of the residences, in December 2023, the timetable targeted a start of works in 2024 and a full opening in 2026. In 2023, the Banque des Territoires announced its backing for the project, valued at 270 million euros. It is not the only project from the brand to slip: Six Senses Milan has pushed its opening back to 2027.

The hotel will have 50 keys in total, split between suites in the main building, the preserved Château Bel-Air, and lodges scattered across the estate. These are the figures on the official website in October 2026; the 2019 announcements planned more. The design draws on Alain-Fournier’s Le Grand Meaulnes (1913) and the seasons of the Sologne forest, with nods to the region’s 200 or so bird species.

The château will house a restaurant and a bar. The estate’s website also announces a specialty restaurant, an all-day restaurant, a lobby bar and a speakeasy called The Lost Domain; the residences website mentions four restaurants in total.

The Six Senses Spa will cover 18,000 sq ft, or about 1,670 m², with signature treatments, sleep programmes, fitness, meditation, an Alchemy Bar and an organic garden growing the plants used in treatments. A biohacking centre is also planned. Three water areas, the Aqua Sanctuaries, including a 25-metre outdoor pool, complete the gym and the yoga pavilion.

What do the 52 Six Senses residences offer?

The property programme now includes 52 fully serviced residences, designed by Blink Design Group, down from 70 in the original plan. They range from 3 to 7 bedrooms and from 219 to 662 m², on plots of 1,500 to 7,000 m² with a private pool. Owners will have access to the hotel’s services.

A 46-hole golf club and stables already open

The estate has not waited for the hotel. Its golf offering brings together 46 holes over three courses: Robert von Hagge’s Old Course (1987), Gil Hanse’s New Course, opened in July 2021, and the Wild Piglet, a ten-hole par-30 course inaugurated in 2020; the club remains private. An equestrian centre associated with double Olympic champion Scott Brash has been running since August 2025.

In the meantime, Sologne already has some fine addresses, such as the Château & Spa La Borde, near Chambord, which we have tested. See also our selection of château hotels to sleep in a Loire château.
