The future hotel occupies the former Grand Hotel Imperiale, an Art Nouveau villa built in the 1920s. Fully renovated and converted, it offers, according to Raffles, one of the longest lake frontages of any hotel in the region.

Here Raffles is teaming up with CL Hotel SPA, the Italian partner behind the project, with the bank UniCredit as financial partner. Andrea Girolami, head of CL Hotel SPA, wants the address to become a new landmark on the lakeshore, for locals and visitors alike. Details in the official Raffles press release.

The hotel will have 84 rooms, suites and villas: 18 suites, 2 villas and many rooms facing the lake. Raffles has not yet released any floor plan, room size or room image; the only official visual of the project is the watercolour above.

As at every address of the brand, the butler service will be part of the experience: it is what built Raffles’ reputation. For Omer Acar, chief executive of Raffles, Como marks a milestone: the first house in Italy and the fifth in Europe.

It is the project’s most alluring promise: check-in from the water. Guests will be able to arrive by boat and step straight onto the hotel’s private jetty.

According to Accor, a private beach bar will be reached through a historic tunnel. The vast gardens and the lawn sloping down to the water will also host weddings, parties and private events, alongside meeting rooms.

The Long Bar and Writers Bar, from Singapore

Two of the brand’s signature bars will make the journey to Moltrasio: the Long Bar and the Writers Bar. Their originals were born at Raffles Singapore, the flagship, where the Long Bar is the birthplace of the Singapore Sling.

Accor also announces a Library and a Patisserie, other brand rituals, lakeside restaurants each built around its own concept, and cooking that puts regional produce and wines centre stage.

Spa, pools and a beach club by the water

Moltrasio is a village on the western shore of Lake Como, just north of Cernobbio and the town of Como. Connoisseurs already know it for Passalacqua, one of the addresses in our selection of the most beautiful hotels in Italy.

Raffles is arriving on a lake where the luxury offering is growing fast. In Como itself, Palazzo Venezia opened its 18 lake-facing rooms at the end of 2025, and Corinthia Lake Como is expected in Menaggio at the end of 2028.

When will Raffles Lake Como open?

Raffles is announcing an opening in 2027, with no precise month. On 13 May 2026, while unveiling its future hotel in Courchevel, Accor restated that Raffles Lake Como was expected in 2027.

The Italian group AG Hotels, a partner in the project, also presents it as a five-star hotel due in 2027. Reservations are not yet open and rates have not yet been published.
