The resort will stand in the Cap Malabata district, east of Tangier, on Morocco’s northern coast. The press release describes a clifftop setting facing the Strait of Gibraltar, with views of the Spanish coastline. It should not be confused with Cape Spartel or Achakar, which lie west of the city, on the Atlantic side.

The only visual released so far, an aerial rendering, shows villas stepped in terraces across a wooded headland above a rocky shore. The estate will have more than 260 metres of sea frontage, with extensive pool and lounging areas facing the water; the press release makes no mention of a private beach.

99 keys, including 27 standalone villas

The resort will have 99 rooms and suites in total, villas included: 27 of these keys will take the form of standalone villas, the rest being rooms and suites.

The architecture has been entrusted to the practice Arjitec, the interiors to the studio Goddard Littlefair. No renderings of the rooms, suites or villas were released with the announcement.

Four restaurants, a spa and a kids’ club

The announced programme includes four restaurants blending local and international influences, whose names have not yet been revealed. They will be joined by a full-service spa, a fitness centre, the Kids For All Seasons programme for younger guests and flexible event spaces, both indoors and outdoors.

“As our fourth location in Morocco, Four Seasons Resort Tangier expands our collection in one of the region’s most captivating destinations,” says Ricardo Suarez, Group Head, Development at Four Seasons. For Abdulwahed Al Kooheji, managing director of Royal Resort Cap Malabata, Tangier’s strategic location, heritage and maritime setting make it “the ideal backdrop for this landmark project”.

Royal Resort Cap Malabata is the Tangier project of GFH, the Bahrain-based financial group. For Four Seasons, the announcement adds to other resort projects, such as Four Seasons Tropicalia, due in 2027 in the Dominican Republic.

Tangier will be the fourth Four Seasons address in Morocco, after the Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca, the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech and the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr. In Casablanca and Rabat, both hotels face the Atlantic; in Marrakech, the resort spreads across palm-planted gardens. The latter features in our selection of the best hotels in Marrakech and in our ranking of the city’s finest pools.
