The Experimental group has set up its Roman hotel in a former bank at 46 Via Ludovisi. The 82 rooms and suites are the work of Rodolphe Parente, decorator and interior architect. The four-star hotel also has a spa and a pool suspended on the roof.

In the kitchen, chef Giovanni Passerini runs Ludovisi e Cadore, the hotel’s restaurant. The bar is home to the Experimental Cocktail Club, the address that carries the group’s name.

4.5 million euros for the Dolce Vita street

Via Veneto runs from Piazza Barberini to Porta Pinciana, in the Ludovisi district. On 13 April 2026, the City of Rome launched 4.5 million euros of works on the street: basalt paving slabs, granite kerbs and better accessibility. Work began between Piazza Barberini and Via Boncompagni, reached the Porta Pinciana stretch in July, and was due to finish in October 2026. Elsewhere in the centre, Bulgari, Six Senses and Corinthia have also opened since 2023, but outside this district.

On the street itself, the Nobu Hotel Roma officially opened on 6 November 2025 at 155 Via Vittorio Veneto, in the former Grand Hotel Via Veneto. Its 117 rooms and suites are designed by Rockwell Group, alongside the Nobu Villa, the Nobu restaurant, a rooftop and the Mizu Urban Spa with six treatment rooms. The brand was co-founded by Robert De Niro, whose hotel empire we have traced.

At number 62, the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace opened in May 2023 after some 45 million euros of works, with 160 rooms and suites in a building that once housed the US embassy library.

On Via Ludovisi, the Dorchester Collection’s Hotel Eden, which reopened on 1 April 2017 with 98 rooms and suites, has been run by Tristan Delaittre since 1 October 2026. On the same street, The Rome EDITION has occupied a former 1940s bank since 2023, with 91 keys including 17 suites. W Rome, opened on 7 December 2021 on Via Liguria, has 162 rooms and Giano, the restaurant of chef Ciccio Sultano.

At 111-119 Via Vittorio Veneto, Rosewood Rome will open in 2027 in the former headquarters of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, a major Italian bank, designed by architect Marcello Piacentini. The project fills an entire block of three early 20th-century buildings: 147 rooms and suites, the brand’s Asaya wellness spaces, a terrace and Roman baths set in the old vault room. Announced in January 2021 for 2026, it has slipped by a year.

At number 191 on the same street, the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora stays open during its works: 50 million euros invested by SNG Hotels Group since late 2025, ahead of a move to The Luxury Collection banner in 2027. This autumn the hotel is reopening its rooftop with two-Michelin-star chef Rocco De Santis.

At 50 Via Vittorio Veneto, the former Hotel Majestic will become the Baccarat Hotel Rome in spring 2027, the first Baccarat outside New York. Operated by Starwood Hotels, it will have 87 rooms and suites, a Grand Salon, a Petit Salon, a library, a rooftop and a spa; Max Zanardi was appointed general manager in June 2026.

Close by, in the Sallustiano district, built on the former gardens of the Roman historian Sallust, Mandarin Oriental, Rome will open in 2027 in ten 19th-century villas, between Via Piemonte and Via Sallustiana. On the programme: 108 rooms and suites decorated by Gilles & Boissier and DimoreStudio, six restaurants and bars including the rooftop Mandarin Bar, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a spa with six treatment rooms. Its general manager, Mirko Cattini, arrived on 15 June 2026 from the neighbouring Hotel Eden.

Next in line: Meliá in 2027, Kimpton in 2029

The list keeps growing. The Meliá Collection Rome will open in 2027 on Via XX Settembre with 67 rooms. In 2029, IHG will open a 114-room Kimpton in the former Teatro delle Arti, at 57 Via Sicilia: its third hotel in the area, alongside the InterContinental and the Hotel Alexandra. The latter, at 18 Via Vittorio Veneto, will join the Vignette Collection, IHG’s collection of independent hotels, with 81 rooms announced; expected in the first half of 2025, it still has no opening date.
