The rice fields, pine forests and twenty kilometres of sand in Comporta have for ten years attracted a clientele fleeing the Algarve. They were missing a major brand. Hyatt and Portuguese developer Coporgest announced on 25 August 2026 the Park Hyatt Comporta, the brand’s first address in Portugal, with an opening targeted for 2029.
58 keys, six villas, 22 residences
The project as presented today brings together 58 rooms and suites, six private two-bedroom villas and 22 Park Hyatt residences whose owners will have access to all hotel services. The complex occupies six hectares within the Comporta Beach Resort.
The announced programme includes several swimming pools, a wellness area with a gym, a padel court, a kids’ club and several restaurants. Around the hotel, Coporgest is separately developing the Luxury Beach Residences, 31 villas and 49 apartments which it will market and operate itself.

One hour from Lisbon, and golf next door
Comporta can be reached in less than an hour from Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport, making it one of the few European seaside destinations accessible without a connection or a long drive. The resort adjoins the 18-hole Troia course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and four other golf courses are twenty minutes away.
What Park Hyatt is looking for here
Hyatt’s high-end brand is established in European capitals, from Paris to Vienna via London, Milan and Zurich, but it has few seaside addresses on the continent. Comporta offers it a protected coastline, an established clientele and land scarcity: the Troia peninsula is classified, which severely limits construction.
“Bringing the Park Hyatt brand to Comporta reflects a shared ambition,” explains Sérgio Ferreira, CEO of Coporgest. The developer, specialising in high-end real estate and tourism in Portugal, retains control of the development, with Hyatt providing the brand and operations.
Three years of waiting
The 2029 date allows time for the project to evolve: Hyatt specifies that the programme remains “proposed” at this stage, which also applies to the number of keys. For the region, the stakes are elsewhere: Comporta has built its reputation on discreet wooden houses and confidential addresses, and the arrival of an international brand marks a turning point that regulars are observing with caution.
