10 million euros for two extra floors
Announced by the hotel on 4 December 2025, the project is led by the owner, Harald Habersatter. The spa closed for five months during the works, and two floors were added to the top of the main building: the fourth for rooms, the fifth for the adults-only Sky Spa. The interior architecture is by the Salzburg studio Köck + Bachler.
On the ground floor, the original spa has also been transformed: a new reception, new changing rooms and two additional massage rooms, joining five treatment rooms and two beauty suites. Together with the original Nature Spa, the complex now covers 4,500 m², around 900 m² of which is on the new floor alone.
On the fifth floor, a 20 m pool at 33 °C

The centrepiece is the Infinity Sky Pool: a 20 m infinity-edge basin, cantilevered over thin air, heated to 33 °C all year round and facing the peaks of the Radstädter Tauern, the range that is home to Obertauern. It is open from 9 am to 7.30 pm, late enough for a swim after a day on the slopes. In neighbouring Bavaria, the Jagdhof hotel has also enlarged its spa, to 7,700 m², with a granite rooftop pool.
90 °C saunas and a salt dome under glass
Around the pool, the Sky Spa lines up a panoramic Finnish sauna at 90 °C, a gentler bio sauna at 60 °C, an aromatic steam bath at 45 °C and an infrared-heated salt dome. Guests unwind in two relaxation rooms, Sky Cloud and Sky Dream, or in the Tea Lounge, set in a glazed atrium crowned by a circular skylight, before stepping out onto the roof terrace.
On the treatment side, the Alpine Calm ritual sets the tone of the menu: 50 minutes for €115, beginning with warm compresses of alpine herbs, followed by a facial, a head, neck and shoulder massage, and a ritual for the hands and arms.
Why a nude zone from the age of 16?
The hotel states it simply: the adults’ sauna area is a nude zone, open to guests aged 16 and over. This is neither a fad nor a novelty but standard practice in Austria, where saunas are traditionally used without swimwear. Each establishment does, however, set its own minimum age: in Styria, the Heilthermen resort in Bad Waltersdorf lowered its threshold to 14 and over when it opened a 60-seat sauna.
Steam rituals beside a 20 m lake
The aufguss sessions, steam rituals in which a sauna master fans the heat towards the bathers, take place not in the Sky Spa but at the lake sauna on the ground floor, in the Nature Spa. They are held daily. Right next to it, a natural sauna lake, 20 m long and 3 m deep, is fed with spring water for cooling off. The adults’ area has seven saunas in all, plus a whirlpool, the Alpine Bubble, heated to 36 °C.
Suites of 27 to 165 m² beneath the Sky Spa

The fourth floor is home to the new Sky Suites, from 27 to 165 m², some with a private sauna and an outdoor hot tub. The hotel now has 68 rooms and suites, and its rates include gourmet board, with a five-course dinner according to the hotel’s website.
On 26 October 2026, for the night of 10 to 11 December, the official booking engine showed €486 for two in a 28 m² Mountain Classic room, and €1,002 for Sky N°48, a 105 m² suite and the cheapest of the Sky Suites that night. The tourist tax, €4 per person per night, is extra.
Free shuttle to the Obertauern slopes

Ahead of the ski season opening in Obertauern, the hotel highlights a free ski shuttle to the resort and the 63 km Tauern cross-country trail, which starts at the hotel. Four kilometres away, the family’s own alpine pasture, the Gnadenalm, adds 15 km of cross-country trails and a floodlit toboggan run.
