Istria: an Anantara and two Valamars in Poreč

Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort, golf by the water

In Savudrija, on the north-western tip of Istria and less than 30 minutes from Portorož in Slovenia, Minor Hotels has run the Adriatic Istria Resort since 12 February 2026. After renovation, it will become the Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort in early 2027, the group’s first address in Croatia. It has 186 rooms and suites, three restaurants, four bars, a spa of more than 3,000 m², indoor and outdoor pools and direct access to the beach.

Its trump card fits in one line: an 18-hole, par-72 golf course running along the coast from the hotel. Summer 2027 rates are not yet published: no room was on sale for the night of 15 to 16 June 2027 when we checked on 30 October 2026.

Opened in 2026 in the Parenzana seafront park, a few minutes from the old town of Poreč, Valamar’s Pical Resort brings together three five-star hotels and a villa: Pical Suites, Pical Hotel, Pical Family Hotel and Pical Beach House. It counts 11 restaurants, 9 bars, 11 pools including an infinity pool by the water, three beaches and 8,000 m² for children; Valamar presents its ESPA spa as the only one in Croatia.

Price checked on 30 October 2026 on the official booking engine, night of 15 to 16 June 2027 for two: €398 half board at the Pical Hotel, in a 25 m² Room for 2 Seaside with balcony, on the Early Booking rate (€538 on the standard rate). Pical Suites starts at €496 with breakfast.

On the promenade of Poreč’s old town, the former Hotel Jadran, built in 1913 as an annexe to the town’s first hotel, reopened in February 2026 as a five-star hotel with 12 rooms and suites, each with its own theme. Its restaurant, JAZ by Ana Roš, bears the Slovenian chef’s signature and features in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide selection.

For the night of 15 to 16 June 2027, the official booking engine shows €337 for two in a 28 m² Room for 2 Seaside, JAZ signature breakfast included, on the Early Booking rate (€437 on the standard rate).

What about the Opatija Riviera in Kvarner?

The Kvarner Gulf is mainly waiting for the Opatija Marriott Resort & Spa, in Ičići: 182 rooms and suites, including six villas with private pool, and three restaurants. Announced for spring 2026, it still had no new date on 30 October 2026 and could not be booked for June 2027, so we do not count it in this list.

Ičići borders Lovran, home to Villa Magnolia, the real setting of the series ‘Hotel Portofino’. A little further south, the Kvarner Mövenpick opened in summer 2026, and its large 14,000 m² Salterra spa is due to open in winter 2026.

On the Frana Supila cliff, Villa Argentina reopened on 16 September 2026 after a reconstruction by the Croatian practice 3LHD. It has 96 rooms and suites facing the city walls, the Liz restaurant, the Copper Bar, the Cala Beach Club and an 18-metre indoor pool, and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

For the night of 14 to 15 June 2027, Booking.com shows €1,405 for two in a 32 m² Deluxe room with balcony, breakfast included and free cancellation until 11 June (checked on 30 October 2026).

Hilton Lopud Beach Resort & Spa, on the island of Lopud

On Lopud, the second of the Elaphiti Islands off Dubrovnik, Hilton is taking over a seafront resort with Anker Grupa and renovating it from top to bottom. It will be the island’s first international-brand hotel: 111 rooms and suites with balcony or terrace, seven apartments, three restaurants, two bars, a spa with a heated infinity pool and a private beach house. Private boats will link the hotel to Dubrovnik’s old town and the airport.

Hilton announces a 2027 opening and is taking bookings from 15 July 2027, so June is out. For the first possible night, 15 to 16 July 2027, the official booking engine shows from €358 for two, taxes included, in a King Guest Room with balcony (checked on 30 October 2026).

Split and Zagreb, two hotels reborn in 2027

Hotel Marjan, the tower on Split’s harbour

Facing the harbour and Marjan hill, Adris Grupa, parent company of Maistra, is completely rebuilding the Hotel Marjan. The 3LHD practice keeps the plan by architect Lovro Perković, a three-storey base and a 15-storey tower; the interiors are entrusted to Piero Lissoni’s Milan studio. The group expects its first guests at the start of the 2027 tourist season. The number of rooms is not yet confirmed and rates have not been published.

Hotel Academia, a Tribute Portfolio in old Zagreb

On Tkalčićeva street, at the foot of Kaptol, the cathedral hill, Tiberius Hotels signed with Marriott on 6 May 2026 to turn the Hotel Academia into a Tribute Portfolio with 65 rooms and suites, with a rooftop terrace, two private lounges, a wellness area and a garage. Work will begin in early 2027, with completion planned for mid-2027. Rates not yet published.

Near Plitvice, 60 lodges in the wild

In Janja Gora, not far from the Plitvice Lakes, Venari Lodges will open in 2027 some sixty lodges in a private reserve, with ‘nature to plate’ cooking, a wellness area and outings with rangers to watch deer, wild boar, bears and lynx. Grand Metropolitan Hotels will run it under its brand The Brionj, Luxury Hotel Collection. Exact date and rates not yet published.

How much is a night in June 2027?

Four of the eight hotels already show a price for summer 2027. We checked them on 30 October 2026, for two adults and the cheapest room, on the official booking engine or, failing that, on Booking.com.
