Set within a wooded estate in County Donegal, this 19th-century stone building rests on a fortified site dating back more than five centuries, formerly under the control of the O’Donnell clan. Left abandoned for many years, the property underwent an ambitious renovation orchestrated by hotelier Pat Doherty. This meticulous restoration marries respect for historical architecture with the demands of contemporary luxury.
The landscaped gardens surrounding the castle showcase wild flower beds that support local biodiversity. Along the gravel pathways, contemporary sculptures accompany guests on their walks. Classic-style bicycles are made available to travellers wishing to explore the estate’s trails.
