The Dorchester Collection brand: 10 hotels, from London to Los Angeles

In two months, on 1 January 2027, the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan will close its doors for two years of works. The project says a great deal about the Dorchester Collection brand: just ten hotels, two openings planned for 2028 and ten residence projects. Here is a portrait of a group that prefers a handful of addresses to a long list of brands.

The official list runs to ten names. In London, The Dorchester, facing Hyde Park, and 45 Park Lane; Coworth Park completes the English trio in Ascot, west of the capital. Paris has two palace hotels, Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée; Italy also has two, the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan and the Hotel Eden in Rome.

Beyond Europe, the brand is present in Dubai with The Lana and in Los Angeles with The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air. Not a chain of dozens of hotels, then, but ten very famous addresses.

The press release of 8 July 2026 is clear: the Hotel Principe di Savoia will close temporarily on 1 January 2027 and reopen in 2029. Rooms and suites will be significantly enlarged, and therefore fewer in number; the hotel will also gain a limited collection of private residences, a new spa, new restaurants and a rooftop.

It is the largest investment in its history, as the hotel approaches its centenary. We covered the project in detail in our article on the closure of the Principe di Savoia.

On rue de Rivoli, opposite the Tuileries Garden, Le Meurice is showcasing its recently restored rooms and suites. Its New Year’s Eve dinner, at €1,095, is the most expensive in our survey of New Year’s Eve dinners at the Paris palace hotels.

In London, The Dorchester remains the flagship that gave the group its name. For the 2026 festive season, the hotel will celebrate Christmas with a train running through a chocolate village.

After The Lana, Dubai will welcome The Alba in 2028, on Palm Jumeirah, the palm-shaped artificial island. It will be the first Dorchester Collection hotel by the sea: 95 rooms and suites, architecture by Zaha Hadid Architects, interiors by Gilles and Boissier and gardens by landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic.

The developer’s website announces a 3,000 m² wellness centre, with pools, longevity treatments, a gym and a spa, set within a 26,000 m² garden. The Alba is being developed by OMNIYAT, a Dubai developer, and will be managed by Dorchester Collection; residences, The Alba Residences, will open at the same time. Tokyo, atop Japan’s tallest building

The group’s first hotel in Asia will also open in 2028, at the top of Torch Tower, set to become Japan’s tallest building, in the Otemachi business district. The official website promises views over Tokyo Bay, the Imperial Palace and Mount Fuji.

The project was announced on 8 November 2022 by Mitsubishi Estate and Tokyo Century, the hotel’s owners, who entrusted its management to Dorchester Collection. Their press release mentioned around 110 rooms, spread across floors 53 to 58, with a pool, a spa and a gym.

Ten residence projects, from Mayfair to Dubai

The brand also lends its name to apartments. In London, 1 Mayfair and Mayfair Park Residences; in Dubai, eight projects: AVA at Palm Jumeirah, One at Palm Jumeirah, The Lana Residences, ORLA, ORLA Infinity, VELA, VELA Viento and The Alba Residences.

These recent projects, like The Lana, The Alba and the Tokyo hotel, are managed for third-party owners. A useful distinction: the group does not own everything that bears its name, and its new projects go through these management contracts.

Who runs Dorchester Collection?

According to the official leadership page, Christopher Cowdray has chaired the group since 2023, after fifteen years as chief executive. Philippe Leboeuf is now its chief executive. François Delahaye, chief operating officer since 2006, has also run Hôtel Plaza Athénée since 1999.
