Six markets from 23 November to 29 December
The Colmar tourist office announces six Christmas markets in 2026, not five: the gourmet market on rue de la Montagne-Verte joins the five historic squares of the old town. All open on Monday 23 November and close on Tuesday 29 December, entry is free, and the streets linking them are pedestrianised.
On place des Dominicains, some sixty little wooden huts nestle at the foot of the 14th-century church, whose stained-glass windows light up at nightfall. On place de l’Ancienne Douane, nearly fifty chalets surround the Schwendi fountain, sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi, beside a canal; right next door, the Koïfhus hosts an indoor market of fine craftspeople, ceramicists, glassmakers and milliners, all the way into the Décapole hall.

On place Jeanne-d’Arc, the market recreates an Alsatian village with its own small herd of goats and mostly sells regional produce: foie gras, wines, eaux-de-vie, bredalas (Alsatian Christmas biscuits) and gingerbread. In Little Venice, on place des Six-Montagnes-Noires, is the children’s market, with a merry-go-round, a mechanical nativity scene and Father Christmas’s giant letterbox.
Finally, the gourmet market brings together nine cabins run by nine chefs, all maîtres restaurateurs, serving everything from oysters to Alsatian specialities, with cooking demonstrations. Along with the big wheel, it stays open until 3 January 2027, every day from 11am to 10pm (5pm on 31 December), as does the Noël féerique on place Rapp.
Hours, shuttles and parking: how it works
The chalets open from 11am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and from 10am to 8pm Friday to Sunday. Exceptions: 11am to 5pm on Thursday 24 December, 10am to 8pm on 25 and 26 December. For safety reasons, the markets close exactly on time. During these hours, from 23 November to 29 December, the town centre is closed to all vehicles.
By car, the easiest option is the park-and-ride at the Parc des Expositions, at €5 a day with the return bus trip included, every 10 minutes to the St Eloi stop. It only opens on 28 and 29 November and on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20 December; on those six December days, all buses in the Colmar area are free. Otherwise, the Rapp and Gare-Bleylé covered car parks stay open day and night, as does the Montagne-Verte car park with its 690 spaces. Shops also open on Sundays 29 November and 6, 13 and 20 December.
Two five-stars, rue des Têtes and Champ de Mars
La Maison des Têtes, 2 minutes from Dominicains

Its façade with 106 carved heads, listed as a historic monument at the end of the 19th century, is one of Colmar’s signature sights; Bartholdi added a bronze cooper on the gable. A Relais & Châteaux member since 2019, Éric Girardin’s house has 21 five-star rooms, the Girardin restaurant (one Michelin star, 18 covers), a historic brasserie, the Bartholdi winstub and a pâtisserie. The Dominicains market is about 150 metres away.
Price checked: €625 for the night of 13 to 14 December in the last room available, the 34 m² family duplex, breakfast included, non-refundable, tourist tax extra. The night of Saturday 12 December was already fully booked on 30 October.
L’Esquisse, the spa facing the Champ de Mars park

In the Champ de Mars park, about 350 metres from the Little Venice market and 200 metres from place Rapp, this five-star from the MGallery collection is built around a spa of more than 500 m² with a pool, hammam, sauna and jacuzzi, rooms with balconies and penthouse apartments. The hotel has no restaurant, but it does have a cocktail bar, the K Bar. We had already included it in our selection of spa hotels in Alsace.
Price checked: €660.40 for the night of 13 to 14 December in a 38 m² Executive Atelier d’artiste room with balcony, taxes included; €627.78 at the rate reserved for members of Accor’s loyalty programme.
Little Venice: sleep on the market square
Hôtel Le Maréchal, a house from 1565 by the canal
It is the closest address to the chalets: the hotel looks onto place des Six-Montagnes-Noires, home of the children’s market. This listed 1565 mansion, run by the Bomo family for more than fifty years, has 30 rooms and suites, some with canal views, the gourmet restaurant A l’Echevin (closed Tuesday and Wednesday) and a cocktail bar, Le Baron.
Price checked: €450 for the night of 13 to 14 December with the “Marché de Noël” package, for a 50 m² duplex studio in the neighbouring annexe, free cancellation before 23 November, tourist tax extra. In the main building, a standard room rises to €630 with the “Étape savoureuse” gourmet package.
Hôtel Le Colombier, a Renaissance house from 1543
On rue Turenne, about 250 metres from Little Venice, the gourmet market and Ancienne Douane, this four-star occupies a Renaissance house from 1543 with its spiral staircase, extended by other old houses on both sides of the street: 45 rooms and suites in all. A rarity in the pedestrian centre: a secure indoor car park.
Price checked: €704 for the night of 13 to 14 December, in a 31 m² suite, the only category still available, with the “Marché Noël à Colmar” offer, without breakfast and non-refundable; €739 with breakfast.
Quatorze and James, two four-stars at €390-420
Hôtel Quatorze, calm 4 minutes from Ancienne Douane
On rue des Augustins, between place Rapp and Ancienne Douane, this four-star blends old buildings and contemporary furniture on a quiet street, about 300 metres from the Ancienne Douane and Dominicains markets, with free valet parking and the station a 10-minute walk away.
Price checked: €390 for the night of 13 to 14 December in a 24 m² Executive double room with balcony, flexible and cancellable rate; €430 for the duplex suite.
James Boutique Hôtel, a family address on rue Saint-Eloi
Opened by Julie Armindo and her father Jaime, known as James, this 30-room four-star is about 400 metres from place Jeanne-d’Arc. Its December assets: a breakfast created with chef Jean-Yves Schillinger, holder of two Michelin stars, outdoor and underground parking, and the St Eloi stop for the park-and-ride shuttle on the same street.
Price checked: €420 for the night of 13 to 14 December in an 18 m² Classic room, non-refundable rate (€466 before discount), tourist tax extra.
Every price checked for 13 December
All these rates were checked on 30 October 2026 on the hotels’ official booking websites, for the night of Sunday 13 to Monday 14 December 2026, two adults, in the cheapest room still available. Saturday costs more and fills up first; prices change every day.
