2026 Christmas Market Dates
As of October 1, 2026, the City of Strasbourg has not yet released the official dates for the 2026 edition, stating only that it will open “in late November.” For reference, the 2025 edition ran from November 26 to December 24. We will update this article as soon as the official announcement is made. The Christkindelsmärik, or “Market of the Infant Jesus,” dates back to 1570 and moved to Place Broglie in 1871. Just an hour’s drive away, the Colmar Christmas Market has already confirmed its dates, running from November 27 to December 30, 2026.

La Maison Rouge, facing the Great Christmas Tree
This is the closest address to the heart of the festivities: Maison Rouge Strasbourg Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection, a five-star property with 131 rooms and suites, is located on Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, just a minute or two from Place Kléber. Victor Hugo stayed here in 1839. Its 150 m² vinotherapy spa features a hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi, though no swimming pool, for €25 per hour; breakfast is served for €34 at Salons Mistinguett.

La Cour du Corbeau, a peaceful Renaissance haven
Located on Rue des Couples, along the banks of the Ill, Hôtel Cour du Corbeau features 63 rooms and suites set around a timber-galleried courtyard where guests have slept since 1528. Just minutes from the cathedral, it offers historic charm without the noise of the market chalets. There is no spa or restaurant, but breakfast is served until noon on weekends.

Le Régent Petite France, right on the Ill
Located on Rue des Moulins, the five-star Hôtel & Spa Régent Petite France is housed in the former Glacières de Strasbourg, a 17th-century mill. Its 75 rooms, starting at 26 m², mostly overlook the River Ill; its spa features an outdoor hot tub facing the rooftops, with no pool, and includes one hour of access per night. Place Kléber is just a seven to eight-minute walk away.

Le Bouclier d’Or, a historic 1552 house
Located at 1 rue du Bouclier in La Petite France, this residence rebuilt in 1552 reveals a 150 m² vaulted stone spa (€15 per hour for hotel guests), the Alsatian restaurant Le Spitze, and a bar adorned with an original 16th-century fresco. A highly intimate 4-star boutique hotel, just a five- or six-minute walk from Place Kléber.

Les Haras, the royal stables pool
Located on Rue des Glacières, the 4-star, One MICHELIN Key hotel Les Haras occupies former 18th-century royal stables, featuring interiors designed by Jouin Manku. Its 115 rooms range from 22 to 41 m², and it is the only property in our selection to feature a proper swimming pool: a 17-metre pool heated to 30°C, with one hour of access included per night. Place Kléber is just a ten-minute walk away.

Sofitel Grande Île, suites with terraces
Located on Place Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, about four minutes from Place Broglie, the world’s very first Sofitel (opened in 1964) features 150 rooms, including 28 suites. The Opéra and Impériale suites boast private terraces overlooking the cathedral. While it lacks a spa and swimming pool, it offers an excellent brasserie run by chef Mathieu Klein.

Hôtel Rohan, steps from the cathedral
Located on Rue du Maroquin, just fifty metres from the cathedral, Hôtel Rohan is a four-star property renovated in 2020. It features 35 rooms and suites, the finest of which are nestled under the eaves with views of the spire. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to look out over the Christmas market chalets from your window, provided you do not mind the lively atmosphere and the lack of a spa.

When to book, and where to stay
With hotel occupancy rates nearing 90% during the 2025 market, the finest rooms sell out early. Book as early as October, opting for free cancellation, and aim for the beginning of the week, as December weekends are the busiest. Staying on the Grande Île, between Place Kléber and the cathedral, allows you to explore everything on foot, while Petite France offers a quieter atmosphere in the evening and sits close to the station. For a first Christmas market experience in Strasbourg, we recommend Maison Rouge, located right next to the chalets, and Cour du Corbeau for those seeking charm away from the crowds.
