HotelBrain takes over a legendary Santorini address

The Greek hotel landscape continues to consolidate in the hands of its most powerful players. HotelBrain, which claims first place in Greece by number of managed properties, has formalised the signature of a ten-year lease for the Carpe Diem Santorini, one of the volcanic island’s characterful resorts. The group will take the reins of operations on 31 October 2026.

A strategic takeover on a highly coveted island

Santorini remains one of the most desirable destinations in the Mediterranean, where every address with character commands a premium price. By securing the operation of the Carpe Diem for a decade, HotelBrain is securing a rare asset in a market where upscale supply is structurally limited by geography and local regulations. The resort, conceived as an intimate retreat facing the caldera, targets a clientele seeking serenity and bespoke services.

The rationale of a Greek hospitality giant

This type of long-term lease illustrates the strategy of major Greek operators: rather than tying up capital in purchasing the real estate, they capture value through management and operations. For HotelBrain, each new iconic address reinforces its distribution power and renown among an international clientele. The takeover of the Carpe Diem is part of this methodical conquest of the finest Greek islands.
