A year of filming with 80 staff
This observational series follows the transformation of Cromlix from the inside, over almost an entire year. Produced by Rogan Scotland and directed by Cailean Watt, it captures the daily life of the hotel’s 80 staff, the works by artist David Shrigley hanging on the walls and even the search for water beneath the estate.
No broadcast date has been set: as of 26 October 2026, Channel 4 had given neither a day nor a month. In the meantime, Cromlix joins our list of hotels where your favourite series are filmed.
A Victorian mansion rebuilt in 1880

The story begins in 1874, when Captain Arthur Drummond had Cromlix Cottage built. Destroyed by fire in 1878, the house was rebuilt in 1880, then extended around 1900 by Colonel Arthur Hay Drummond, who also designed the gardens.
The private residence became a luxury country house hotel in 1981. Andy and Kim Murray bought it in 2013: the estate stretches across the Stirlingshire countryside, 18 km from Stirling, 58 km from Glasgow and 77 km from Edinburgh. The tennis champion thus joins the ranks of celebrity hotel owners, such as Robert De Niro and his Nobu hotels.
A new wing and five months behind closed doors

The project on camera includes a new wing with two new restaurants. The hotel stayed open for part of the works, then closed for five months during the heaviest phase. For Kim Murray, the past two years have brought “a huge building project” and an entirely new direction for food and wellbeing.
It is also the first project the couple have led together. Kim Murray oversees the creative direction of the house, from fabrics to flowers and from artworks to menus, with a preference for Scottish craftspeople and suppliers.
Cradle, a dining room of just 16 covers
Cromlix has a single fine dining restaurant: Cradle and its 16 covers, where executive chef James Mearing serves a tasting menu from Thursday to Sunday. The more relaxed Garden Room seats 65 guests beneath picture windows opening onto the lawn, from breakfast through to dinner; afternoon tea is served in the Glasshouse, and a bar completes the offering.
The hotel holds 5 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes from the AA, the British body that rates hotels and restaurants (2024), the AA Hotel of the Year for Scotland title for 2024-2025 and a MICHELIN Key, the guide’s award for hotels, in the 2024 Guide.
What lies within the Woodland Retreat?

The Woodland Retreat is a treatment space set in the estate’s woods and reserved for hotel guests. Signature treatments last 80 minutes and use the MODM and Bamford brands; a sauna and a cold plunge round off the escape.
From £628 a night, breakfast included

The hotel offers two Turret Suites, three Deluxe Suites, Junior Suites, an accessible Garden Suite, five Estate Rooms and Cottage Rooms, including two new ground-floor rooms. The Laurel Gate Lodge stands 1.3 km from the house.
For the night of 18 to 19 November 2026, we found £628 for two, breakfast included, on a prepaid non-refundable rate, or £785 on a flexible rate, on the official booking engine on 26 October 2026. For another luxury stay in Scotland, see the renovated Tower Suite at Gleneagles.
