The La Dolce Vita Orient Express train adds Portofino to its 2027 season, from €7,000 per person

Unveiled in Rome on 8 October 2026, the 2027 season of La Dolce Vita Orient Express features four headline journeys, but only one is genuinely new. The “Rome, Portofino, Venice and Tuscany” loop links Liguria, Venice and Florence in three days, from €7,000 per person. The other three routes, already on sale, receive their 2027 dates and prices, and the Truffle Route now heads to Alba.

The luxury train from Orient Express and Arsenale has been running since April 2025; we described its carriages in detail in our tour on board La Dolce Vita Orient Express. For 2027, just one route joins the map: “Rome, Portofino, Venice and Tuscany”, whose official page went live on 20 May 2026. It is a round trip from Rome, not a Rome to Venice run. The first departure is on 2 May 2027, followed by 12 June, 15 July, 6 and 26 August, and 9 and 27 September.

On day one, the train leaves Roma Ostiense station; lunch on board is created by Heinz Beck, a three-Michelin-starred chef. In the afternoon it stops at Santa Margherita Ligure, since no railway line reaches Portofino: a private transfer takes guests on to the harbour. Dinner and live music follow, then a night on the move.

Day two is spent in Venice, starting from Venezia Santa Lucia station, in the city where the brand also has its hotel, the Orient Express Venezia. After a second night on board, day three is devoted to Florence, before the return to Rome in the evening. A one-way version, Rome, Portofino and Venice in two days and one night, runs on the same dates, from €3,500 per person in August.

On sale since October 2025, the Italian Wine Route is a three-day loop from Rome. Day one stops at Bolgheri, a village and wine appellation on the Tuscan coast, with an optional drive down the cypress avenue in a vintage car and a tasting at a private estate. Day two leads to Verona, between the Arena and Juliet’s balcony, with options including Valpolicella and Amarone at La Collina dei Ciliegi, a mini-concert at the Basilica of San Zeno or Borghetto sul Mincio. Its first departure will be on 4 December 2026, ahead of six departures in 2027.

The Truffle Route now heads to Alba

Launched in December 2024, the Truffle Route used to serve Nizza Monferrato. It now takes guests to Alba, in the heart of the Langhe: an evening departure from Roma Ostiense, a day in Alba with the optional “White Truffle Experience” at the Ceretto estate, and a return to Rome on the morning of day three. After two departures on 14 and 18 November 2026, it will run only once in 2027, on 9 November.

Rome to Venice by the Tuscan coast overnight

The third existing route, Rome to Venice via Bolgheri, is a two-day one-way trip: departure from Roma Ostiense in the late morning, an afternoon in Bolgheri, and arrival at Venezia Santa Lucia late the following morning. After a departure on 9 December 2026 (€3,060 in Deluxe), it will run again on 29 March 2027, from €3,500 per person. Luxury rail is reinventing itself elsewhere too: the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will link Paris and Monte-Carlo on 10 May 2027.
