The Lily of the Valley hotel lands on Courchevel’s altiport in December 2027, with 30 Starck suites

Philippe Starck has drawn a house built entirely of wood, turned towards a 360° panorama of the Alps, with wide bay windows and generous terraces facing the mountains. The only rendering released so far shows timber façades, an ivy-covered stone base and a plane parked on the runway.

In 1961, Michel Ziegler, a high-mountain guide and founder of the airline Air Alpes, laid out the first mountain landing strip at more than 2,000 metres. A new word had to be coined for it: the altiport.

The star aircraft, the Pilatus, first flew in 1959 and could land where no one else dared. In 1965, a chalet opened at the foot of the runway and took its name: the restaurant Le Pilatus. In 1992, the runway was redesigned to take larger aircraft during the Albertville Olympics.

The Pilatus becomes a Lily of the Valley

The new hotel will rise on the site of that chalet. Alain and Lucie Weill, the brand’s co-founders, are bringing the iconic Pilatus back to life, billed by the house as the highest hotel in Courchevel, to preserve its soul and reinvent the experience.

The resort keeps drawing new addresses, such as the Bourbon Hotel announced in Courchevel 1850. For comparison, see the 9 new luxury ski hotels of winter 2026-2027, a year before Lily of the Valley arrives.

Construction has been entrusted to WO2, a developer specialising in solid timber, founded in 2014 by Guillaume Poitrinal and Philippe Zivkovic. It is the firm’s first luxury hotel, according to the press release of 4 September 2026.

The project features a timber structure and timber interiors, plant-based materials, geothermal energy and a heat-recovery system. For Lucie Weill, the longevity promised to guests “means thinking in decades rather than seasons”.
