Where do stars go for their summer holidays? Celebrity-favourite hotels

Every summer, a handful of addresses become the focal point for all of Hollywood and the jet set. Between the Cannes Film Festival in May, the nights in Saint-Tropez, the yachts of Portofino and the beaches of Mykonos, stars have their favourite palaces, where people go as much to be seen as to disappear. An overview of the hotels most frequented by celebrities when the summer season arrives.

In brief
  • ☀️ Summer 2026 · Haaland in Sicily, Dua Lipa on an Italian honeymoon, John Legend from Montreux to Ghent: the Mediterranean still rules.
  • 🎬 The French Riviera · the golden triangle for A-listers: Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Byblos and Cheval Blanc, from Cannes to Saint-Tropez.
  • 🇮🇹 Italy · Il Pellicano, the Splendido in Portofino and Le Sirenuse in Positano, sanctuaries of the Dolce Vita.
  • 🇬🇷 Greece · Mykonos and its Psarou beach, between the Belvedere and the Nammos beach club.
  • 🌍 Icons of secrecy · Amangiri, in the Utah desert, and the Aman Venice, on the Grand Canal.
  • 🥂 The common thread · private beach, security, anti-paparazzi service: the luxury of being together without being disturbed.

Celebrity summer 2026: who is where right now?

Once again this summer, the celebrity holiday map crowns the Mediterranean. World Cup star Erling Haaland has settled in Sicily with his family after Norway’s quarter-final exit: a Dolce & Gabbana show, then off to a yacht. Taormina’s palace-studded island, made cult by “The White Lotus”, confirms its status as the season’s reigning destination.

Newlyweds since late May, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner chose a romantic road trip along Italy’s west coast, between coves and dolce vita tables · the singer, already spotted on the Amalfi Coast last summer, keeps her Italian love affair going. More unexpectedly, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are touring Europe with their brood, from Montreux, on the Swiss Riviera with its Belle Époque palaces, to Rotterdam and Ghent. And the regulars stick to a winning formula: the Jenner sisters in Saint-Tropez between Pampelonne and dinners in town, Kate Moss and Dakota Johnson in Ibiza, Vittoria Ceretti in Capri.

On the French Riviera, the golden triangle for A-listers

The French Riviera kicks off the stars’ season as soon as the Cannes Film Festival begins. At its tip, the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Cap d’Antibes, remains the historic headquarters for the amfAR gala and festival parties, between its pool carved into the rock and ultra-protective service. Leonardo DiCaprio is a regular at the Cannes festivities, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z are among the faces spotted on its terraces.

Le Byblos et sa piscine, à Saint-Tropez
Le Byblos and its Caves du Roy, an institution of Saint-Tropez nightlife.

Heading to Saint-Tropez, where the Byblos has reigned since 1967 with its legendary nightclub, Les Caves du Roy. Mick Jagger married Bianca there in 1971, Brigitte Bardot attended the inauguration, and the club has seen the likes of Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Leonardo DiCaprio pass through more recently. On the port, the Cheval Blanc St-Tropez, a LVMH signature, embodies the ultra-luxury and intimate side of the Saint-Tropez season, frequented by the international jet set.

In Italy, from Portofino to the Amalfi Coast

Hotel Il Pellicano, in Porto Ercole, muse of the Tuscan Dolce Vita.

When summer arrives, the Dolce Vita plays out on the Italian Riviera. In Tuscany, Hotel Il Pellicano, born in 1965 in Porto Ercole, has always cultivated the spirit of a retreat for the happy few, immortalised by the photographs of Slim Aarons. Charlie Chaplin, Jackie Kennedy and the Agnelli family are among its historic regulars.

Perched above the bay of Portofino, the Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, symbolises the glamour of movie stars facing the yachts. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton stayed there in 1967, in the wake of a golden age populated by Bogart, Ava Gardner and Clark Gable. Further south, in Positano, Le Sirenuse and its red facades overlooking the sea remain the most popular address on the Amalfi Coast, in the postcard setting that Hollywood dreams of.

In Greece, the Mykonos scene

In Mykonos, the summer party is concentrated around Psarou beach. The Belvedere reigns there as a jet-set haunt, with one of the first outdoor Nobu sushi bars, while the Nammos beach club, below, attracts yachts and a star-studded clientele. Over the seasons, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Leonardo DiCaprio, and even Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid have been spotted there, at the heart of one of the most photographed scenes of the Greek summer.

Elsewhere in the world, icons of absolute secrecy

Le resort Amangiri dans le désert de l'Utah
Amangiri, a secret retreat in the Utah desert.

Far from the Mediterranean, some addresses bet everything on isolation. In the Utah desert, Amangiri has become the global icon of secret luxury: a minimalist resort lost in a canyon, praised for its total discretion, to the point where a suite is nicknamed after Kylie Jenner, a regular visitor with the Kardashian-Jenner clan. In Venice, the Aman Venice, a 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, remains in people’s memories for the wedding of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin in September 2014, which brought together all of Hollywood.

Note the winter exception: in Saint-Barthélemy, the Eden Rock sees its peak of celebrities not in the summer, but around the end-of-year holidays, when the jet set takes over the island’s villas.

Our perspective

What brings these addresses together, ultimately, is not just luxury, but the promise of a protected inner circle: being able to be a star and, for the space of a summer, becoming a simple holidaymaker again, away from prying eyes. It is this alchemy, between assumed glamour and absolute discretion, that brings the same faces back to the same palaces, season after season. Proof that, even for celebrities, the best holidays remain a matter of address.
