The house was built in the late 19th century for the lawyer Adriano Antão Barata Salgueiro, in a neo-Moorish style inspired by Hispano-Arabic architecture: arches, ornate balconies and a pale façade. The hotel’s website dates the building to 1891 in its text and to 1886 in its historical timeline. The Sociedade Agrícola Valle Flor became its owner in 1934.

In 1992 the townhouse became a three-star hotel, designed by architect António Botelho and long known as the Hotel Veneza. It is now being reborn under the JNcQUOI banner, owned by Paula Amorim and Miguel Guedes de Sousa’s Amorim Luxury group. On the same avenue, we have already covered the new rooms at the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade.

The interior architecture and design have been entrusted to Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. The 16 rooms and suites fall into several categories: the Avenue Rooms and Avenue Suites, the Courtyard Rooms with a balcony over the avenue, and the Garden Rooms and Garden Suite with a private terrace on the garden.

The Mansard Suite occupies the attic: two bedrooms under the roof, with wooden ceilings. The group’s website speaks of ‘16 Grand Suites’, the hotel’s of ‘16 rooms’; room sizes have not yet been released. The images published so far are 3D renderings.

No guests here, only ‘Members’

JNcQUOI House presents itself as a house rather than a hotel. Its guests are known as ‘Members’ rather than customers. A stay gives access to the JNcQUOI network: the brand’s restaurants, shops and members’ clubs in Lisbon and in Comporta, the coastline of dunes and rice fields south of the capital. In the same area, the Na Praia hotel will open in Tróia in May 2027.

JNcQUOI Fish, chef Filipe Carvalho’s fish and seafood restaurant, has been welcoming diners in the house since 8 October 2025. Just below, JNcQUOI Table is a ten-seat counter where the same chef cooks in front of his guests.

JNcQUOI Table received the ‘Opening of the Year’ award from the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2026, presented in the country for the first time. Beneath the house, The Mirror Room cocktail bar plays on secrecy, with a décor inspired by the Atlantic’s underwater gardens.

How to pre-book before 3 December

There is no booking engine yet and rates have not been published. The hotel’s website offers a ‘Pre-Book your stay’ form to reserve a stay in advance, and the group’s rooms team can be reached at book.rooms@jncquoi.com. By way of comparison, the Andaz Lisbon and its 170 rooms by Patricia Urquiola takes the grand-hotel approach in the Baixa, while JNcQUOI House bets on just 16 keys.
