The Anantara Koh Yao Yai resort in Thailand adds sound baths afloat in private pools

On the island of Koh Yao Yai, in the heart of Phang Nga Bay, Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas is expanding its wellness offering with new treatments and a tailor-made stay. Announced by Minor Hotels on 28 October 2026, they range from a sound session afloat in your own private pool to massages in beach cabanas facing the Andaman Sea.

Guided breathing before every treatment

At Anantara Spa, every treatment journey now begins with a guided breathing session. This opening moment is designed to settle the mind and prepare the body before the therapist gets to work. The spa also has a hammam, a hydrotherapy pool, a meditation room and a yoga studio.

What does the Holistic Abdominal Massage offer?

A signature treatment, the Holistic Abdominal Massage focuses on the stomach. It pairs deep breathing, to stimulate circulation and oxygenation, with gentle hands-on techniques. The stated aim: to support digestion, ease abdominal discomfort and calm the nervous system.

After Thai boxing, the Naga Martial Massage

The other newcomer, the Naga Martial Massage, draws on the fluid movements of ancient Thai martial arts. It combines long inhalations and exhalations with traditional stretches to release tension and restore mobility and flexibility. The resort recommends it after a Muay Thai session, Thai boxing, or an intense workout.

Massages in cabanas right on the beach

Treatments also leave the spa behind. In the resort’s beach cabanas, therapists practise Tok Sen and other traditional Thai techniques to the rhythm of the waves. The backdrop: the Andaman Sea and the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay.

Afloat in your private pool, lulled by sound

Guests in the Pool Villas and Penthouses, the accommodation with private pools, are treated to a novelty of their own. They can book a private sound therapy session, in other words relaxation through sound, lying on an inflatable mattress floating in their own pool, with a guided meditation.

Wellness Retreat: from 18,000 baht a night

For a full stay, the Anantara Wellness Retreat includes accommodation and daily breakfast. Added to that, every day, are a spa treatment, a movement session or a wellness workshop, as well as a sound therapy session and a wellness lunch, just one for the whole stay. Guests build their own programme from the resort’s treatment menu and facilities.

The package is priced from 18,000 Thai baht a night, plus taxes and service charge. It complements the five-night retreat inspired by traditional Thai medicine that the resort launched in January 2026 in its Wellness Lagoon Pool Villas.

148 keys in the heart of Phang Nga Bay

The resort comprises 148 suites, pool villas and penthouses and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. It lies 35 minutes by boat from Phuket and 30 minutes from Krabi. As its general manager, Erik Billgren, puts it: “We are proud to offer our guests the most restful and rejuvenating stays.” He says he is delighted to introduce these new offerings and unique settings, so that guests return home “completely renewed”.
