After our test of OMO5 Kyoto Gion, we head to Osaka to discover OMO7, the urban flagship of Hoshino Resorts: 436 rooms set on a large garden, at the gateway to the popular Shinsekai district. We stayed there, tested the onsen, and took part in the house summer evenings. Here is our full review, along with our rating.

A contemporary building open to Miya-green park

Rising over fourteen stories with an immaculate silhouette, the property overlooks Miya-green park, a lush green space popular with locals. The lobby combines light wood tones with a giant wall map highlighting the neighborhood’s culinary gems. True to the immersive concept developed by the Japanese group, reception serves as the starting point to explore the colorful alleyways of Shinsekai.

Guest rooms designed as urban lookouts

From the upper floors, the perspective over the metropolis is particularly striking at nightfall. The interior layout combines custom furniture, panoramic lounge areas, and functional storage to optimize every square meter. Room categories range from playful DANDAN configurations to spacious IDOBATA suites designed for groups and families.
A wellness break centered around a traditional bath

A true sanctuary of serenity in the heart of the city, the space dedicated to the bathing ritual captivates with its minimalist design. A remarkable skylight over the main pool allows bathers to contemplate the sky while soaking. Facilities include dark-toned changing areas and a thoughtfully designed relaxation zone.
Nighttime entertainment and dining rooted in local culture

At dusk, the outdoor atmosphere comes alive with festive events bringing together travelers and locals alike. Folk dance performances and food stalls transform the park into a welcoming community gathering spot. Meanwhile, the OMO Rangers team offers guided thematic walking tours through the neighborhood.
A generous culinary offering right from breakfast

The morning buffet highlights traditional regional recipes featuring udon noodles and specialty curries. The freshness of the ingredients and the variety of dishes are among the highlights of the stay. Although located slightly away from the bustling downtown hubs, the complex benefits from direct access to public transit.
Our verdict
OMO7 Osaka successfully bridges the gap between a 436-room city hotel and a charming neighborhood hub. Guests come for the striking views from the upper floors and the open-sky bath, and stay for the infectious energy of the garden evenings; only the location, slightly out of the center, requires getting familiar with the nearby subway. Our rating: 9.6/10. Reservations can be made on the official Hoshino Resorts website.
