Le Sereno hotel in St Barth reopens on 16 November: from €1,628 a night, a 230 m² suite and a beach club

On 16 November 2026, Le Sereno will reopen for the season in Saint-Barthélemy with the results of a three-year project: all its accommodation redone, a 230 m² suite, a pool terrace by Patricia Urquiola and a new beach club. The hotel has not been closed for three years: it reopened on 30 October 2025 for the previous season. We checked its rates on the official booking engine: €1,628 for the opening night, taxes and fees included.

Three years of work, not three years closed

Le Sereno closes every year between seasons. 16 November is therefore a seasonal reopening, not the end of a three-year building project behind closed doors. The three years refer to the length of the project, led personally by Luis and Angelica Contreras, who own and operate the hotel, and which the hotel presents as the most significant evolution in its history.

The original design came out of their collaboration with Christian Liaigre. The couple went on to create Il Sereno, on Lake Como. Two hallmarks of the house remain: the stone that mimics the turquoise of the lagoon and the deck, which the hotel presents as the largest in St Barth. Le Sereno holds one MICHELIN Key and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

What Patricia Urquiola actually designed

Patricia Urquiola has not redone the whole hotel: she has worked on specific elements. The pool terrace gains a conversation pit, in other words a sunken lounge, at the head of the pool, with outdoor lounges, beachfront cabanas, a new bar and sunloungers. She also designed the canopies of the beachfront suites and the furniture of the Suite des Pêcheurs. In Lisbon, she is behind the 170 rooms of the Andaz Lisbon hotel. The two images of the new Sereno released with the press statement are renderings.

All the accommodation has been redone, and the newcomer is the Suite des Pêcheurs: one bedroom, two bathrooms, a private pool, a deck shaded by a coconut palm and a private gate opening onto the beach. The open bathroom features a sculptural Cenote bathtub.

The 230 m² include the outdoor areas: the booking engine, where it is listed as Suite du Pêcheur, gives 83 m² of air-conditioned space, with a king-size bed, a sofa bed, a large terrace and a garden.

On the total, caution is needed: 39 suites and 3 villas according to the official website, along some 180 m of shoreline, but that page has not been updated since the renovation and the press release gives no figure.

A palm the hotel believes is unique on the island

The gardens were conceived by the Contreras family under the creative direction of Denys Ridrimont: a collection of distinct gardens, an arrival through a tunnel of coconut palms, living walls and a garden for each suite. On arrival, a Copernicia fallaensis, a palm with a spread of more than ten metres, greets guests. The hotel believes it is the only one of its kind on the island.

BOKAO is the hotel’s new beach club, born of the acquisition of the adjoining beachfront property. It complements Al Mare with long barefoot lunches. The press release gives no menu, no chef and no opening date of its own.

Le Sereno Al Mare remains the hotel’s Italian restaurant, open-air and facing Grand Cul-de-Sac, with lobster spaghetti on the menu and a redesigned beachside area.

The spa works with Valmont products and techniques. Its lagoonside pavilion, which the hotel presents as the only one in St Barth, has been redone and paved with Orosei stone. Treatments are also available in the suites.

The beach has been restored with the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy and the Réserve Naturelle: the equivalent of thousands of truckloads of sand was dredged from the lagoon and put back in front of the hotel. Clear-bottomed kayaks and bespoke paddleboards are complimentary for guests, and sea turtles can be seen in the protected lagoon.
