With this resort, the group enters both Tanzania and East Africa. Iberostar has more than 26,800 rooms across more than 80 four- and five-star hotels in 13 countries. The opening is part of its strategic plan, which provides for 1 billion euros of investment up to 2028 in new projects and the renovation of existing assets. The cost of this hotel has not been published. On the island, it joins the Riu Palace Swahili, which opened in January 2026, among others.

The resort sits on the seafront, 60 km from the international airport and 53 km from Stone Town, the old town of Zanzibar. The reef is close by and the resort faces Mnemba Island. To add a safari to your stay, look in Tanzania at the Mereshi camp in the Serengeti or the Upeo Serengeti lodge, due in July 2027.

Six restaurants and a round-the-clock café

The all-inclusive package is built around six restaurants. They include the Karibu buffet, the Indian restaurant Rasa, Salt & Cut for grills and Al Mar on the beach. The other two serve Asian cuisine with teppanyaki, the Japanese griddle where food is cooked in front of guests, and Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Added to these are the Star Café, open 24 hours a day, the Sotto Zero ice cream parlour and bars by the pools and the beach.

Six pools, water slides and padel

The resort has six outdoor pools, including an infinity pool facing the ocean, and the Aquafun water area with slides for children. Younger guests also have their own programme, Star Camp. The resort also offers a spa, a gym, tennis, padel and a diving centre.

An on-site glass bottling plant

The group’s Wave of Change programme takes shape here as the hotel’s own glass bottling plant, which is intended to eliminate single-use plastic bottles. More than 330 employees on the island have received environmental training. Iberostar also says it works with responsible suppliers and local Fair Trade certified artisans.

A price guide from a tour operator

We did not find a public rate for the hotel. As a guide, the German tour operator Dertour listed €236 for 2 adults, hotel only, all-inclusive, in a Junior Suite, for the night of 1 to 2 April 2027 (checked 4/11/2026). This is a tour operator’s price, without flights, and is not an Iberostar rate.
