NoMad is leaving the West. NoMad Singapore, the brand’s first address in Asia-Pacific, opened its reservations on 16 September 2026 for a scheduled year-end opening on Orchard Road. Developed with developer UOL Group within a landscaped tower by WOHA, the 173-key hotel transposes to Singapore the brand’s New York and European blend, now spearheaded by Hilton.

230 Orchard Road, a fourteen-level waterfall

The building replaces Faber House, a 1970s office block. WOHA, the Singaporean practice known for its garden towers, has designed 19 floors clad in a planted vertical facade and a waterfall cascading down fourteen levels. The complex occupies 10,225 m² at the corner of Orchard Road, the department store thoroughfare, and Cairnhill Road, which climbs towards the shophouses of Emerald Hill.

The programme opens on the fifth floor. The reception is open-air, extended by the terrace of the Lù bar and a swimming pool suspended above the shopping street. The bar, whose emblem is a heron, serves as a pool lounge by day and an aperitivo spot by evening. Above, the rooms are spread across twelve levels, up to the restaurant crowning the property.

173 keys between Peranakan and Art Deco

Interiors are entrusted to Kevin Klein Design, a Los Angeles studio. Pale blue and green walls reference the Peranakan houses of Emerald Hill, geometry stems from Art Deco, and furnishings blend marble, burr wood, custom wool rugs and screens. The first images of a show room reveal a blue velvet sofa, a leather headboard and a freestanding bathtub positioned within the room.

Out of the 173 keys, 71 Atelier rooms of 32 m² integrate the bathtub into the living space. The 25 suites are divided between 42 m² Parlour Suites and 43 m² NoMad Suites, featuring a separate lounge, double vanity and freestanding bathtub. Rates have not yet been announced by the hotel.

NoMad Grill at the top, Tropicana below

The top floor is dedicated to NoMad Grill, a reinterpretation of the New York chophouse: ornamental columns, coffered tin ceiling, dry-aged meats grilled over wood fire, oyster and wine bar. The kitchen is led by Lorenz Hoja, who spent over ten years with Joël Robuchon, under the supervision of Josh Harnden, the brand’s culinary director and an alumnus of Eleven Madison Park.

Right next door, Tropicana Club pays tribute to two namesake cabarets: the Havana venue founded in 1939 and the one that enlivened Singapore’s nightlife from 1968 onwards. Martinis, Daiquiris and Manhattans are revisited here with Southeast Asian ingredients, amidst live music and DJs. At street level, Sticky Fingers serves ice cream sundaes by day and transforms into an intimate cocktail bar by night.

1,860 artworks, 90% by Singaporean artists

Art has been a signature of the brand since New York. In Singapore, over 1,860 works will be displayed, with 90% created by artists based in the city-state: copper-plate oils, street photography, monumental bas-reliefs, floral compositions. Part of the collection has been commissioned from ART:DIS, an organisation that champions artists with disabilities, long supported by UOL.

A Sydell brand, a Hilton network

NoMad was born in New York in 2012 under the guidance of Andrew Zobler and Sydell Group, before opening in London in 2021 within the former Bow Street Magistrates’ Court. Hilton took control of the brand in 2024 to serve as its flagship in the lifestyle luxury segment, and Singapore marks the first opening resulting from this partnership. The hotel will be managed by Bernardo de la Garza, former general manager of The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon.

“Singapore possesses a unique capacity for synthesis: global influences are interpreted, integrated and adapted until something entirely original emerges,” explains Kristen Millar, global brand leader for NoMad. Asia’s first NoMad brings into dialogue “nature and city, heritage and modernity, the familiar and the cosmopolitan”.

Our perspective

Singapore lacked lifestyle hotels of this calibre: major brands here are traditional, such as Raffles, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, while new openings often lean towards affordable design. NoMad arrives with a newly built property, a garden tower by WOHA and three signature dining venues, making it the most anticipated opening of the year on Orchard Road.

For Hilton, the stakes extend beyond the city-state. Following London, Singapore tests NoMad’s ability to travel beyond Anglo-Saxon capitals, ahead of further Asian addresses. The answer will be read in the occupancy of NoMad Grill just as much as in the guest rooms.
