The world’s tallest hotel, record officially confirmed

On 9 December 2025, Guinness World Records officially crowned the Ciel Dubai Marina as the world’s tallest hotel. With a certified height of 377.127 metres spread over 82 floors, the tower dethrones another Emirati giant, the Gevora Hotel, and its neighbour the JW Marriott Marquis. Opened to its first guests on 15 November 2025, it carries the Vignette Collection brand from the IHG group and features a slender silhouette, nicknamed “the needle’s eye”, designed by the architecture firm NORR.

Publicité

The ranking of the world’s tallest hotel towers remains, unsurprisingly, an almost exclusively Dubai affair. The Ciel takes the lead in a pack that includes the Gevora, the JW Marriott Marquis, the Rose Rayhaan and the iconic Burj Al Arab.

The highlight of the show is found on level 76, approximately 310 metres above Dubai Marina. This is where the Tattu Sky Pool is located, an infinity pool lined with around fifty daybeds, announced by the establishment as one of the highest in the world, aiming to beat the record previously held by the Address Beach Resort. It is part of the Tattu Dubai world, the first international address for the restaurant born in Manchester, deployed here over three levels: the restaurant and its bar on the 74th floor, the pool on the 76th, and a lounge and its terrace on the 81st.

1,004 rooms suspended above Dubai

The tower features 1,004 rooms and suites, all equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows. Depending on the orientation, the view plunges over the Palm Jumeirah, the Persian Gulf or the skyline bristling with skyscrapers in Dubai Marina. The categories range up to the High Floor rooms with access to the Nest executive lounge and the panoramic suites. Developed by The First Group for an investment of approximately two billion dirhams, the hotel fully plays the altitude card as a luxury argument.

Eight restaurants and a 360-degree viewpoint

At the top, level 82 houses a 360-degree panoramic observation deck, the highest point of the hotel. In terms of dining, eight addresses share the tower: in addition to Tattu, there is the Mediterranean West 13, the Asian buffet East 14, the artisanal bakery Risen and the bar Nuage. The hotel completes the offer with a luxury spa on level 61, three outdoor pools, a gym open day and night and access to a private beach club on the Palm Jumeirah.

Staying at the Ciel Dubai Marina

The Ciel Dubai Marina can be booked directly on the hotel’s website or via the IHG network, under the Vignette Collection brand. Rates vary according to the category, from Premium rooms to high-floor suites with lounge access and sea views. An address to tick off for those who want to sleep, swim and dine higher than anywhere else on the planet.

Our take

Dubai continues to play the vertical one-upmanship game, and the Ciel Dubai Marina is its latest spectacular demonstration. Behind the record, there is a simple and formidably effective idea: to transform altitude itself into a luxury experience, from breakfast facing the Gulf to swimming in the clouds. One question remains, very much in the spirit of Dubai: how long will this record hold before the city builds even higher?
