Mid-January 2026, the Artfarm collective · already renowned for the Hauser & Wirth Hotel in Bruton, England · will open its second hotel property. Situated at 1,800 metres above sea level in Haute Engadine, Graubünden canton, this new establishment is nestled in the heart of Sils Maria. It embraces a discreet and confidential alpine luxury, offering just 13 rooms in the spirit of a contemporary refuge, blending art, local gastronomy, and reinvented mountain architecture.
A Renovation by Luis Laplace
Argentine architect Luis Laplace, a long-standing collaborator of Artfarm’s founders, is behind the renovation. His signature is evident: natural materials (local wood, Engadine stone, raw textiles), intimate volumes, and a continuous interplay between interior and alpine landscape. Each room opens onto the valley’s peaks, fostering a minimalist dialogue with the surrounding nature.
The Artfarm DNA: Art, Local Gastronomy, Signature Hospitality
As in Bruton, the Artfarm experience is built around a cuisine rooted in local produce and a setting where contemporary art graces all common areas. Sils Maria, a village that inspired Nietzsche and Anselm Kiefer, offered Artfarm an ideal backdrop: nestled between the lakes of Sils and Silvaplana, just 15 minutes from St. Moritz, this corner of Haute Engadine combines intellectual heritage, high-altitude hiking trails, and absolute silence · the perfect antidote to the bustle of neighbouring grand luxury resorts.
