On the hill overlooking the village of Gstaad, its château-style architecture instantly recognisable from the valley · the Gstaad Palace, opened in 1913, is Switzerland’s other grand alpine palace. Less flashy than St. Moritz, more discreet, and decidedly more aristocratic. With five generations of the Scherz family at its helm, it boasts 90 rooms and suites, plus four private chalets nestled in the gardens. Swiss discretion at its zenith.
Le Grill and Gildo’s Ristorante
No Michelin stars for the Gstaad Palace · a deliberate choice for authenticity rather than chasing accolades. Le Grill, the main dining room, offers international alpine cuisine. Gildo’s Ristorante, serving Italian dishes, is the other spot for more convivial evenings. The wine cellar is one of the most impressive in alpine Europe.
Palace Spa, 1,800 m²
Heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, hammam, fitness room, as well as four indoor tennis courts · a rare luxury at high altitude. The spa offers Sothys and Valmont treatments with a menu adapted to the seasons.
