On 26 February 2026, Constance Hotels & Resorts first unveiled the new identity of the Water Villas. On 1 August 2026, the group announced the reopening: according to its CEO Jean-Jacques Vallet, the Water Villas and the Constance Spa were delivered first, followed by the Jing restaurant and bar, the main swimming pool and all the Beach Villas. A new arrival jetty and a new reception complete the ensemble. The press release of 17 September 2026 then provided a summary of the renovation of the entire resort.

For Tangi Legrand, General Manager of Halaveli, the ambition was to strengthen the resort’s pillars by adding a new level of comfort, refinement and attention to detail. The property remains a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and is Green Globe certified.

The 57 Water Villas, set on stilts above the lagoon, were entrusted to the interior design duo Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet, from Studio MHNA. Their new identity is defined by three features: clean lines, natural textures and a light palette. In the official 2026 photos, the bedroom opens up under a wooden ceiling and the bathroom features a round bathtub facing the lagoon.

The September press release speaks of villas improved in terms of space, functionality, technology and service, without announcing new floor areas: each Water Villa measures approximately 100 m² and retains its private pool.

The 30 Beach Villas renovated in turn

On the beach, all the Beach Villas were renovated after the overwater villas. The resort has 30 of them: 9 Beach Villas, 11 Family Beach Villas, 8 Double Storey Beach Villas of 410 m², one two-bedroom Beach Villa and the 700 m² Presidential Beach Villa. As with the lagoon villas, each has a private pool, for a total of 87 villas on the island.

The main pool and the beach have been redesigned. A new feature announced in September, a beach hut now hosts casual lunches and sunset drinks. The arrival experience has also been reimagined: the new jetty receives travellers arriving from Malé airport, 25 minutes by seaplane or approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by speedboat, before the new reception.

The Jing restaurant and bar, on stilts, have been redesigned for a setting more open to the lagoon. This evening venue has 36 seats indoors and 14 on the terrace. It joins Jahaz, the main restaurant, Meeru Beach Grill and Kaika Sushi Bar; two bars, the Jahaz Bar and the Jing Bar, complete the offering.

The cellars of Jahaz and Jing hold more than 22,500 bottles, representing 1,600 references from approximately 325 winemakers.

Built on stilts, the Constance Spa is entirely new: it was among the first to reopen, at the same time as the Water Villas. It now offers Full Moon Sound Healing sessions and personalised fitness programmes.
