Major Music-Themed Luxury Resort & Beach Club Coming To Tulum

UMusic Hotel & Beach Club Tulum to open in December 2026 with 57 keys

  • Location: Tulum, Riviera Maya, Mexico
  • Opening: first week of December 2026, 57 keys and an 800-seat beach club
  • Special feature: professional recording studios and collaborative creative spaces
  • Partners: UMusic Hospitality, IMI Group, Inmobilia, Thor Urbana and UN Tourism

An unprecedented alliance between high-end hospitality and the music industry

The Riviera Maya will enrich its hotel offering by the end of 2026 with the arrival of UMusic Hotel & Beach Club Tulum. The establishment will combine the exclusivity of a 57-key boutique hotel with the vibrant energy of a beach club accommodating up to 800 people. This opening will mark a new milestone in the world of experiential hospitality dedicated to creation. Operational management and programming will be handled by the joint venture UMusic Beach Clubs & Lifestyle, formed by UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle and IMI Group. Meanwhile, developers Inmobilia and Thor Urbana are orchestrating the delivery of the real estate project.

Behind these acronyms stand players from very different worlds. UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle is the hotel branch backed by Universal Music Group, which has been developing a music-centric hotel format for several years. IMI Group, its partner in the joint venture, notably operates O Beach in Ibiza, one of Europe’s busiest beach venues. The meeting of these two areas of expertise·a major label’s catalogue and the operation of a beach club·defines quite precisely what the establishment will be. Inmobilia is driving the real estate development, while Thor Urbana, a Mexican real estate company specialising in high-end assets, has joined the investment round.

Creative infrastructure serving artists and residents

Designed to be much more than just a holiday destination, the resort will integrate state-of-the-art technical facilities for residents and creators. The hotel will house professional recording studios directly on site, offering a workspace facing the waters of the Caribbean Sea. Guests will also benefit from fully equipped collaborative spaces for digital production. In parallel, the property will host exclusive concerts and events thanks to an alliance formed with the electronic music platform Zamna.

A lever for regional development aligned with the Tulum Renace project

The establishment of the resort is at the heart of the global “Tulum Renace” strategy, supported by the government administration in Mexico. This programme brings together public and private players to smooth out tourism seasonality over twelve months. By partnering with UN Tourism and the Center for Music Ecosystems, the project aims to generate sustainable economic benefits for all economic players in the region.

Tulum: from a backpacker haven to a luxury stronghold

The arrival of a project of this nature speaks volumes about Tulum’s trajectory. Long associated with rustic beach huts and long-haul travellers, the town has seen its offering shift towards the high-end market within a decade, driven by the opening of its international airport and the arrival of international brands on the coast. This upmarket shift happened quickly, and not always without damage to a fragile coastline, which explains why the Mexican authorities have taken back control of the destination’s development.

This is precisely the purpose of “Tulum Renace”, which the government presents as a comprehensive strategy combining sustainable tourism, infrastructure and cultural investment. By aligning themselves with it from the announcement, the developers of UMusic Hotel & Beach Club position their property within a public framework rather than acting as a free agent. The Center for Music Ecosystems, associated with the project, aims to measure the real economic benefits of musical activity in a region, an exercise that is still rare in leisure hospitality.

Our view

With this intimate 57-key property coupled with an ambitious events space, Tulum confirms its maturity in the lifestyle luxury segment. The strength of the project lies in the integration of professional studios within a preserved setting, offering an inspiring anchor point for artistic figures. The involvement of international organisations lends valuable institutional credibility to this new Caribbean destination.
