There are hotels that sell a view, and others that sell a lifestyle. In Ios, the small Cycladic island long renowned for its festive nights, Agalia Luxury Suites undoubtedly belongs to the second category. Clinging to the slopes overlooking the port, this nineteen-key boutique hotel has bet on absolute calm, bespoke service, and an integration into the landscape that borders on exemplary. We stayed there: here is our full review.
A boutique hotel on a human scale, facing the most beautiful sunset in Ios
The location is the primary asset of Agalia Luxury Suites. Set on the heights, the hotel offers a plunging view of the lively port of Ios and its white Chora on one side, and a panorama of Koumbara Bay on the other, where every evening the Aegean Sea turns into shades of orange. The beaches of Yiallos, Tzamaria, and Koumbara are all just a few minutes away by car. You are far from the hustle and bustle, but never cut off from the island.
With only nineteen rooms and suites, the address cultivates a rare intimacy. Here, there are no crowds at breakfast or sunbeds to reserve at dawn: the staff knows your name from the very first morning.
Suites in stone and marble, some with their own pool
The design of the suites marries Cycladic simplicity with true contemporary comfort. From the 30 m² Junior Suite to the 35 m² Senior Suite, up to the one, two, and three-bedroom categories, each unit plays the card of noble materials: marble bathrooms, sleek modern furniture, soundproof windows, and white lines enlivened by local wood and stone.
Five suites feature a private pool and four new suites push luxury further by offering multiple basins and elaborate architectural details. As for amenities, nothing is missing: individual air conditioning, mini-bar, room service until midnight, bathrobes, beach towels, free Wi-Fi, and evening turndown service. A standard worthy of great houses, on the scale of a boutique hotel.

A 178 m² pool and an open-air cinema by the water
This is the signature of Agalia: its large 178 m² pool suspended above the bay. The water seems to merge with the horizon, and at nightfall, the hotel projects films on a screen installed by the pool edge. Watching a feature film with your shoulders in the water, facing the lights of the port and the Aegean Sea, remains one of the most striking memories of our stay. The experience, as simple as it is spectacular, sums up the spirit of the house: transforming an exceptional natural setting into moments you will not forget.

The Taste of Joy: a dining table that extends the journey
The restaurant The Taste of Joy defends a Mediterranean cuisine of produce, generous and without pretension. You will find the freshness of the Cyclades, seasonal fish and vegetables, and a wine list that gives pride of place to Greek estates. Breakfast, served facing the bay, is worth getting up early for on its own. Guests booking directly receive a 10% discount at the table, a welcome gesture for an address of this standing.

LuxurIOS: a spa and experiences tailored for disconnection
Well-being here is thought of as a lifestyle rather than a service. The LuxurIOS facilities offer massages, including duo sessions, fitness, and yoga sessions facing the sea. Beyond the spa, the hotel orchestrates true experiences: private boat excursions to the island’s secret coves, local wine tastings, and a personalized concierge to compose a bespoke stay. You don’t just sleep at Agalia, you live Ios.
An eco-responsible approach that changes everything
Behind Agalia lies a rare project in Greek luxury hospitality. Supported by the LuxurIOS collective, it rests on one of the largest private seafront estates still preserved in the Mediterranean, where the owners have chosen to leave 99% of the land intact. Low-impact construction, local materials, collaboration with the island community: luxury here is not created against nature, but with it. A philosophy that carries more and more weight in the choice of a demanding clientele.
Service that makes the difference from the port
Direct booking turns the arrival into an experience. Free private transfer from and to the port of Ios, a welcome “Agalia” cocktail, a bottle of local wine and fresh fruit in the room, discounts at the restaurant and spa, and a dedicated concierge: the hotel takes care of every detail. Membership in Small Luxury Hotels of the World guarantees a level of service and consistency confirmed by rave guest reviews.
Our verdict: 9.5/10
Agalia Luxury Suites succeeds in the most difficult exercise of boutique hospitality: offering the service and amenities of a grand hotel without ever losing the soul of an intimate home. Breathtaking setting, impeccable suites, spectacular pool, sincere dining, exemplary ecological approach: the rare reservations relate to the price, which is high in high season, and accessibility, which requires a little organization to reach Ios. Trifles in light of the experience.
