The Na Praia hotel opens on 1 May 2027 in the dunes of Tróia, north of Comporta in Portugal

The Na Praia hotel will welcome its first guests on 1 May 2027 on the Tróia peninsula in Portugal, between the Atlantic Ocean and a nature reserve, just north of Comporta. Delayed by a fire in March 2026, this project of suites, houses and villas set in the dunes is already taking bookings, from €1,323 a night.

A project born in 2011 in the dunes of Tróia

The story begins in 2011, when Portuguese hotelier José António Uva discovered this coastline, then still wild. Na Praia is the first hotel on the land owned by Ferrado Na Comporta on the peninsula, bought from the Sonae group between 2016 and 2018. Its investors include Spain’s Sandra Ortega Mera, through her holding company Rosp Corunna.

The architecture is by Studio KO, founded by Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty, the landscaping by Doxiadis+ (Thomas Doxiadis) and the interiors by Estúdio Lisboa. Opposite, across the Sado estuary, rise the hills of the Serra da Arrábida. The hotel will be a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Why the opening slipped to 1 May 2027

The opening had been planned for June 2026. On the night of 7 to 8 March 2026, a fire partly damaged a single building, then at the finishing stage, with no casualties. According to José António Uva, the individual accommodation, communal areas, restaurant and services were not damaged; Portugal’s Polícia Judiciária has opened an investigation. The opening has therefore been pushed back by around eleven months.

It is not the first setback: in March 2023, a legal challenge by the Dunas Livres association before the administrative court in Beja halted construction for about two weeks, before Grândola town council invoked the public interest and work resumed.

Suites, houses and villas: 113 units planned

Na Praia offers three ways to stay. The suites, reserved for guests aged 16 and over, occupy the Poente building: Pine Suite, Dune Suite and Dune Pool Suite. Families will head for the hexagonal houses, from the Dune House to the Master Dune Pool House, often with a heated pool.

The three- and four-bedroom villas, with heated pools, are booked on request, with transfers included from Lisbon or Beja. The developer cites a total of 113 units (42 rooms, 3 suites, 63 houses, 5 villas); the official website gives no total. The interior images released by the hotel are renderings for now.

Four restaurants and more than 5,000 bottles

Casa Na Praia will be a café, deli and bakery by day, then a wine bar in the evening, with more than 5,000 bottles in the cellar. Zimbro (Portuguese for “juniper”) will serve Mediterranean cuisine around a century-old juniper tree, Mais Sol will sit on the beach, and the bread will come from chef Bruno Caseiro.

The most eagerly awaited restaurant, MOGO, will be led by chef João Rodrigues with Projecto Matéria.

A spa and complimentary daily activities

Spa Na Praia will offer, among other treatments, the “The Dawn Within” ritual. In every type of accommodation, the stay will include a 24-hour host service, breakfast, complimentary daily activities and in-room check-in.

How much does a night at Na Praia cost?

On the official booking engine, checked on 28 October 2026 for two adults, a suite costs from €1,323 a night for 14 to 15 May 2027 and a house from €1,512. In high season, for the night of 20 to 21 July 2027, expect from €1,843 for a suite and €2,174 for a house; the villas remain on request.
