Spa hotels in the Var: our 6 best addresses, from Saint-Tropez to the High Var

In brief
  • 🏆 Three properties tested by our editorial team · Sezz Saint-Tropez (10/10), Kube Saint-Tropez (9.9/10) and Hostellerie du Cigalou in Bormes-les-Mimosas (8.7/10).
  • 💆 The largest spa in the department · the 2,000 m² Shape Club at Lily of the Valley in La Croix-Valmer, designed around sport and recovery.
  • 🍇 Two sides to the Var, two distinct atmospheres · the Saint-Tropez coastline for seaside spas, and the wine-growing High Var (Flayosc, Tourrettes) for vast, peaceful estates.
  • 📅 When to go · May, June and September offer the same facilities as peak summer, but with significantly lower rates and fewer crowds.

The Var region is home to two hospitality styles with almost nothing in common: the coastal scene, focused on Saint-Tropez and its designer brand spas, and the wine-growing hinterland, where estates focus on space and tranquility. We have selected six addresses with spas, three of which our editorial team tested in real conditions, along with their scores out of 10.

📍 Saint-Tropez💆 Payot Spa🏛️ Architecture by Christophe Pillet

This is our highest score in the department: 10/10. Sezz combines contemporary architecture, a Payot Spa, and a pool set amidst a Mediterranean garden, just minutes from central Saint-Tropez without any of the hustle and bustle.

The detail that makes all the difference: the feeling of staying in a private home rather than a hotel. Service is always attentive without ever being intrusive, a rare quality at this price point on the peninsula.

📍 Gassin💆 myBlend Spa♨️ Hammam

In Gassin, Kube offers a more dramatic setting: sweeping views across the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, renovated bedrooms, a myBlend spa and a hammam. We awarded it 9.9/10 following our test stay, with a slight caveat regarding value for money during peak season.

This is the ideal choice if you want Saint-Tropez views and atmosphere without staying right in the village.

3. Lily of the Valley, the most comprehensive spa in the department

📍 La Croix-Valmer💆 2,000 m² Shape Club🏃 Supervised programmes

Overlooking Gigaro Bay, Lily of the Valley was built around wellness rather than adding it as an afterthought. The Shape Club spans 2,000 m² dedicated to sport, nutrition and recovery, offering multi-day programmes led by expert coaches.

This is the property to choose if the spa is the main reason for your trip rather than just a nice extra. Note: the wellness concept runs year-round, which is rare along this stretch of coast.

4. Terre Blanche, spa and golf in the High Var

📍 Tourrettes💆 3,200 m² Spa⛳ Two golf courses

Terre Blanche is a true resort: suites and villas dotted across the estate, two golf courses, a Michelin-starred restaurant and a 3,200 m² spa. It offers a family-friendly, sporty experience in the region, just forty minutes from the coast.

Its defining asset is space, something the coast simply cannot offer during the summer months.

5. Château de Berne, the spa among the vineyards

📍 Flayosc🍇 1,000 ha estate (175 ha of vines)🏊 Indoor pool

Set within a 1,000-hectare estate including 175 hectares of vineyards, Château de Berne lays out its rooms like a traditional Provençal hamlet. The spa, indoor pool and dining reflect the spirit of a wine estate rather than a coastal hotel, wrapped in a welcoming family vibe.

It is the perfect choice for a two- or three-night getaway, including during the low season, when seaside proximity is not a priority.

6. Hostellerie du Cigalou, charming boutique style

📍 Bormes-les-Mimosas🏡 Renovated residence💶 Best value for money

In Bormes-les-Mimosas, Hostellerie du Cigalou presents a delightful alternative: a fully renovated house, a pool, and an intimate scale where you’ll know all the staff within two days. We scored it 8.7/10, offering exceptional value for money out of season.

Our verdict

Which one to choose depending on your stay

  • If wellness is the main purpose of your trip · Lily of the Valley, for its 2,000 m² space and coached programmes, followed by Terre Blanche for its expansive facilities.
  • If you prefer an intimate hotel over a large resort · Sezz, our 10/10 pick, or Hostellerie du Cigalou for a much gentler budget.
  • If you are escaping summer crowds · the High Var, with Château de Berne and Terre Blanche, forty minutes inland from the coast.
  • If you want stunning views · Kube and its infinity pool overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Coastline or hinterland: how to decide

It is not a question of comfort, as both options offer high standards. It comes down to how you spend your time: on the coast you go out, in the High Var you retreat. If you are still weighing up options around the peninsula, our selection of Saint-Tropez hotels with the best pools covers the area from another perspective, while our list of French Palaces for 2026 places these properties within the official luxury hierarchy.
