In Melides, Portugal, Christian Louboutin’s Hotel Vermelho is letting out two private villas alongside its 13 rooms and suites: La Salvada, a pink house designed by architect Tarek Shamma and decorated by the designer, and La Maison des Bateaux, a traditional Alentejo house. Both have been available to book via the hotel’s website since summer 2025.

La Salvada, Tarek Shamma’s pink house
La Salvada was not originally built for the hotel. It was a guest house on Christian Louboutin’s Melides estate, slightly set apart from his main residence, which has now been converted into a villa for Vermelho guests. Egyptian architect Tarek Shamma, a long-time collaborator of the designer, designed the architecture, while Christian Louboutin styled the interiors.
The design language draws heavily on the Iberian Peninsula: terracotta floors inlaid with glazed ceramics, pastel staircases bordered by turquoise azulejos, and a terrace conceived as an open-air living room centered around a sculptural fireplace. Outside, a swimming pool stretches into a cactus and agave garden, while the rooftop terrace offers 360° views over the rice fields and the ocean.
The villa accommodates four guests across two en-suite double bedrooms, each with its own private entrance. The living and dining areas open up beneath a grand glass roof, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the property enjoys complete privacy. The stay includes a basket of local produce, breakfast at the hotel upon request, housekeeping every two days, and concierge services capable of arranging a private chef or butler.

The second villa takes a contrasting approach: a traditional Alentejo house featuring white walls, cobalt blue accents, and terracotta, looking out over the rice fields. It accommodates four to six guests across approximately 150 sqm, complete with a pool deck and a shaded porch.

Hotel Vermelho, Christian Louboutin’s first hotel
Opened in spring 2023 in the village of Melides, where the designer has spent his winters for over a decade, Hotel Vermelho is a boutique property featuring 13 distinct rooms and suites. The hand-carved facade by Italian artist Giuseppe Ducrot, frescoes by Konstantin Kakanias, and Alentejo azulejos make it a true celebration of craftsmanship. The landscaped gardens were designed by Louis Benech.
The Xtian restaurant serves creative Portuguese and Alentejo cuisine on tableware crafted by local artisans, while the spa offers treatments by Valmont and Kama Ayurveda. A member of Relais & Châteaux, the hotel is adults-only (14+), with rooms starting around $410 per night.
