Beldersoy Resort and SPA opens in Uzbekistan: the country’s first premium mountain resort

In brief

  • Hyatt has opened Beldersoy Resort and SPA, the first property under its Destination by Hyatt brand in Uzbekistan and, according to the group, the country’s first premium mountain resort.
  • It is located in the Beldersoy mountains, Chimgan-Bostanliq region, a few hours’ drive from Tashkent, with direct access to ski slopes and cable cars.
  • The resort features 109 rooms and 36 private villas, two restaurants and a lobby lounge.
  • The spa is the central highlight: indoor seawater pool enriched with mineral salts, magnesium flotation pool and outdoor infinity pool.
  • The timing is noteworthy: Uzbekistan is the country of honour at IFTM 2026, this September in Paris.

Uzbekistan is rarely associated with skiing. Yet this is precisely where Hyatt has planted its flag, with a mountain resort opening a two-hour drive from Tashkent. Beldersoy Resort and SPA is the country’s first Destination by Hyatt property, and the group bills it as Uzbekistan’s first premium mountain resort.

Where the resort is located

Beldersoy MountainsChimgan-Bostanliq Region109 rooms · 36 villasDestination by Hyatt

The site is located in the Beldersoy massif within the Chimgan-Bostanliq region, the country’s most visited mountain area. It is a logical choice: the property offers direct access to the slopes and cable cars, along with year-round hiking and mountain biking trails. In other words, the resort is designed to operate across all four seasons, not just winter.

What the property features

Category Details
Accommodation 109 rooms and 36 private villas, all with panoramic mountain views
Dining Nafis, all-day dining venue offering seasonal specialities · Fire & Ice, evening restaurant focusing on meats and vodka pairings · a lobby lounge
Wellness Dedicated spa, indoor seawater pool enriched with mineral salts, magnesium flotation pool, outdoor infinity pool, functional training areas
Activities Direct access to ski slopes and cable cars, year-round hiking and mountain biking

The balance is compelling: the resort focuses more on water than on snow. Three pools with distinct functions, including a magnesium flotation pool, are amenities more typical of a thermal spa than a ski resort. A logical move for a property that needs to drive occupancy outside the winter season, in a segment where major brands are competing, as shown by Six Senses’ launch of its ‘The Yin Way’ retreat.

What Hyatt says

Michel Morauw, Managing Director for EAME North at Hyatt, explains that the property was ‘designed to reflect Uzbek alpine culture’, blending local heritage with contemporary design. Hotel General Manager Khaled Shaker emphasises the preservation of the land, green spaces, and the character of the site, cited as the guiding principle during construction.

These are standard communications, and should be viewed accordingly. Nonetheless, on a largely undeveloped mountain site, environmental footprint and land use are not rhetorical questions: they will determine whether Chimgan develops into a structured resort or remains a preserved massif.

Another step in Hyatt’s expansion

The opening comes during a strong run for the American group. In the second quarter of 2026, Hyatt reported a record pipeline, driven by its lifestyle brands and emerging markets. Destination by Hyatt, which brings together properties deeply rooted in their local surroundings, is precisely the brand the group is pushing into these new destinations.

This momentum extends beyond Hyatt. Hotel investment surged by 54% in Asia-Pacific during the first half of the year, and Central Asia, long overlooked by major operators, is beginning to capture a share of these flows.

Why this opening matters now

According to Hyatt, Uzbekistan was among the fastest-growing tourist destinations in 2025. The country has significantly eased entry requirements in recent years and is promoting the Silk Road, led by Samarkand and Bukhara. What it lacked was international hospitality offerings outside historic cities.

The timing reinforces the strategic rationale: Uzbekistan is the guest destination of honour at IFTM 2026, the travel trade show taking place at Paris Porte de Versailles from 15 to 17 September. The country will be showcased to French agency networks and tour operators, now boasting an international property to highlight. We detailed the schedule and dates in our article on the IFTM 2026 trade show.

A point of transparency to conclude: Hyatt’s press release was dated 15 July. The opening therefore did not take place this month, and neither room rates nor the exact number of keys currently in service have been disclosed.
