This is the newest city address from Maisons Pariente, already known for houses such as Crillon-le-Brave in Provence, Le Coucou in Méribel and Lou Pinet in Saint-Tropez. Designed by the well-known interior architect Martin Brudnizki, the hotel stands out for an eclectic and grand style that makes for an unusual stay in the middle of the city.
A nod to the salons of the Marais
Although it has no link to the famous minister of Louis XIV, Le Grand Mazarin draws on the literary salons of the seventeenth century and carries on their refined spirit. Set in the Marais, the hotel captures the elegance and the historic charm of that period.
It feels like walking into The Grand Budapest Hotel, or a Wes Anderson film.

Le Grand Mazarin is fresh proof of it, with 61 rooms and public spaces that boldly mix bright colours, tapestry canopies, generous fabrics, baroque detail, herringbone parquet, extravagant lamps, bespoke furniture and antique finds.
As the leading luxury hotel reviewer in France, we are rarely impressed. Le Grand Mazarin managed to surprise us during our stay. The hotel went beyond what we expected.
The spa and the frescoed pool
Painted art appears in every corner. Look at the trompe-l’oeil windows of the patio, beautifully covered with the dreamlike drawings of the Menorcan artist Sophia Pega. Look up at the ceilings of the bar and of the Ashkenazi restaurant Boubalé, where the well-known chef Assaf Granit, of Shabour and Tekés, works on your senses, while plant motifs by the Ateliers Gohard run across the room. And do not miss the pool, where a spectacular fresco by Jacques Merle, drawn from the world of Jean Cocteau, turns the vault and the columns into a work in their own right.
A bar where every evening turns
Boubalé carries a spirit at once refined and non-conformist, in a setting of its own, with indulgent cocktails and a mysterious cabaret. The room can be hired privately and runs a whimsical programme for memorable evenings. The mixologists are bold and careful, and build well-judged mixes that wake the senses with each sip. Whether you walk in by chance, on a whim or for a planned meeting, every visit to the Boubalé bar is a proper evening out. There is something here of the chic of the Hotel Lutetia.
Our verdict on Le Grand Mazarin
Facing the BHV department store, this hotel is one of a kind. It quickly became one of the landmarks of the neighbourhood, and it reflects the mood of the Marais exactly. Unlike any other address, this five-star stands apart for its incomparable style and its particular atmosphere. Within a few months it had become a fixture for travellers after a high-end stay in one of the liveliest neighbourhoods in Paris.
