Accor enters Las Vegas: Treasure Island joins Handwritten Collection

Accor made its debut in Las Vegas in early August 2026. Treasure Island TI Las Vegas, a Strip institution with its 2,884 rooms, has joined Handwritten Collection: the property instantly becomes the largest hotel in the French group’s global portfolio, which had been waiting for years for the right address to establish itself in the entertainment capital of the world.

  • The first: first Accor hotel in Las Vegas, second Handwritten Collection in the United States after Hotel Stratford in San Francisco
  • The size: 2,884 rooms, making it the largest property in Accor’s portfolio worldwide
  • The owner: Phil Ruffin, who bought the hotel for 755 million dollars from MGM Resorts in 2009, remains its owner
  • For guests: access to the ALL loyalty program and the group’s global distribution, rates starting at 69 dollars per night

Accor found its gateway to Las Vegas

The move had been long anticipated by the group. “This is a pivotal moment, because it marks Accor’s first property in Las Vegas and a major strategic move in the United States,” summarized Camil Yazbeck, Accor’s Global Chief Development Officer, when sealing the partnership. He added, clarifying the rationale for waiting: “We had Las Vegas in our sights for years, but we were really waiting for the right partner and the right address to do it.”

The chosen structure is a franchise agreement: Phil Ruffin, who has owned the property since purchasing it from MGM Resorts in 2009 for 755 million dollars, retains the asset and its management. Accor brings the brand, its distribution, and its ALL loyalty program.

A 2,884-room flagship in a collection of “boutique hotels”

The move comes as a surprise. Handwritten Collection, launched in 2023, claims an identity as a collection of properties with personal character, often modest in size, and reached the milestone of 50 hotels this year. With its 2,884 rooms, Treasure Island stands out as an absolute exception, instantly becoming the largest hotel in Accor’s entire portfolio.

The property retains everything that defines its identity: a 24-hour casino, sportsbook, tropical pool, spa, meeting and convention rooms, shops, arcade, tattoo studio, and an extensive dining selection. The theater continues to host Mystère, an original Cirque du Soleil production on stage for over thirty years. Valet and self-parking remain free, an amenity that has become rare on the Strip.

Our take

The move demonstrates two things. First, that Accor, long absent from a US market dominated by Marriott and Hilton, is now advancing through bold statement moves rather than slow, gradual growth. Second, that Handwritten Collection, framed as a family of intimate properties, also serves as a flexible vehicle to bring large independent assets on board without standardizing them. It is a clever gamble: Accor gains a global showcase on the Strip, while Phil Ruffin gains an international distribution channel for a hotel that previously relied heavily on local traffic. It remains to be seen whether the collection’s intimate identity will withstand the addition of 2,884 keys.
