Which hotel group has the most hotels in the world? The answer is not Marriott, nor Hilton, nor Accor. Two Chinese groups, Jin Jiang and H World, operate nearly 27,000 hotels between them, almost as many as the three American giants combined, and China places four companies in the top 10. This ranking compares the top ten global groups based on a single criterion: the number of establishments open as of 31 December 2025, with figures taken from their annual reports and earnings releases, then looks at what these networks have to offer: rooms, brands, opening pace, and addresses we have tested.

The same ranking, counted by rooms
Counting hotels favours networks of small establishments; counting rooms gives the advantage back to the Americans. Marriott returns to the lead with 1.78 million rooms, or an average of 182 rooms per hotel, compared to 97 for Jin Jiang and 98 for H World. Hilton, fourth in hotels, climbs onto the podium for rooms.

Three readings of the top 10
- China has caught up with the United States in fifteen years · Jin Jiang and H World did not appear in any global top 10 in 2010. Their model, of 100-room hotels franchised en masse in mid-sized cities, has produced 27,000 addresses.
- The Americans remain masters of the high-end · Marriott, Hilton, and IHG concentrate luxury and international presence; their hotels are twice as large on average and their pipelines exceed 4,000 hotels for Marriott and 3,700 for Hilton.
- Europe has only one representative · Accor, with 5,836 hotels, is the only continental European group in the ranking, but it remains the most present in European luxury, from Raffles to Sofitel.
- Owners are not the brands · Campanile, Kyriad, and Radisson Blu belong to Jin Jiang, Steigenberger to H World, Radisson Americas to Choice: the ranking of groups is not read on the facades.
How to read these figures
Each figure corresponds to the number of hotels in operation published by the group itself for 31 December 2025, in its annual report, reference document, or fourth-quarter earnings release. Marriott only communicated an order of magnitude, “more than 9,800”, repeated here with the ≈ sign; Hilton details its estate at 31 December 2025: 9,158 properties and 1,351,351 rooms sign. Pipelines, i.e., hotels signed but not yet open, are not counted. OYO, which claims 43,000 addresses, is left out of the ranking: most are unclassified micro-establishments, without common standards with the networks presented here. Finally, GreenTree does not publish its total number of rooms.
