After a major redevelopment that mobilized teams for nearly two decades, the property officially welcomes its guests to Cartagena. Built on the border between the vibrant Getsemaní area and the UNESCO-listed fortified city, the complex brings together historic buildings dating from the 16th to the 20th century. Colombian architect José María Rodríguez orchestrated the merging of these age-old structures while scrupulously preserving the historic footprint of the site, all while integrating modern comfort technologies.

Upon arrival, guests discover an atrium beneath a spectacular glass canopy that floods a monumental staircase with natural light. This majestic space creates a seamless transition between the tranquility of the shaded inner courtyards and the vibrant energy of the surrounding streets.

François Catroux’s design legacy

The interior design of the complex represents one of the final artistic showcases of French interior designer François Catroux. Renowned for his ability to combine contemporary elegance with the prestige of grand spaces, the designer created a warm atmosphere where rare materials, Colombian handcrafted pieces, and bespoke furniture engage in dialogue. The Catroux Suite stands out as the crown jewel of the collection of 131 rooms and suites, revealing impressive 360-degree panoramas over the Caribbean Sea.
