In Kirrwiller, an Alsatian village in the Bas-Rhin plain, everyone knows the Royal Palace: a cabaret born in 1980 in a family inn, which has become the second-largest music-hall in France. Since the end of the summer, the establishment has added what it was missing. The Royal Palace Hôtel & Spa extends the evening until the following morning, just across the forecourt.
We were invited to test the whole experience: a night at the hotel, the spa, the panoramic restaurant and the new revue, Sublime. Our verdict comes down to one figure, 9.7 out of 10, and one idea: here, the show does not end when the curtain falls.
One family, one cabaret, 42 million euros
The story of the Royal Palace is that of a family. Pierre Meyer imagined the cabaret in 1980 next to the family inn, and over forty-five years transformed it into the second-largest music-hall in France: 212,000 admissions in 2025. His son Mathieu Meyer, General Manager, is leading this new chapter.
The hotel opened on 28 August 2026 following an investment of around 42 million euros, for some 10,000 m² of built space. The Paris-based firm Architecture C designed a façade with undulating lines, a nod to the curves of the music-hall. On the energy side, the complex relies on biogas cogeneration.
What strikes you as soon as you arrive is the coherence of the project. You do not sleep in a hotel placed next to a performance hall: you enter the same house, which speaks the language of the stage from the forecourt to the bathrooms.
An atrium that already plays the show
On the forecourt, three sculpted dancers dance in the jets of a fountain; in the evening, the façade lights up in mauve above a reflecting pool. Inside, the atrium spirals up the entire height of the building, crossed by a chandelier of luminous pearls. On the floor, bright red sofas and duck blue armchairs set the tone: you are in a music-hall.
On the ground floor, the Velvet Bar extends the atrium with its terrace. It serves cocktails and light meals from Wednesday to Sunday, from noon to midnight: the ideal place for a drink before the show.
94 rooms, stage side or hill side
The hotel has 92 rooms and 2 suites, spread over five floors and two atmospheres. On the music-hall side, the rooms play on cabaret red, with an illustrated headboard and velvet curtains. On the Heckberg hill side, they switch to green, with a woodland fresco behind the bed.

Our room had everything you would expect from a recent 4-star hotel: a large bed, a real desk, a coffee machine, a glass shower and a washbasin under a mirror ringed with lightbulbs, like in an artist’s dressing room. The detail is well thought out, and it sums up the hotel. From the window, the view takes in the forecourt, its fountain and the village church tower.
For a special occasion, two categories stand out. The Deluxe Sunset adds a 45 m² terrace with balneotherapy, facing the sunset. The two suites on the top floor, 55 m² each, have their own sauna, a freestanding bath and a terrace.
A 2,000 m² spa on two levels
This is the other reason to visit, even without a show. The spa covers 2,000 m² and two levels, open to hotel guests and day visitors alike. The circuit is comprehensive: sensory pool and sensory showers, panoramic sanarium, hammam, Finnish sauna at 80 °C, snow room, salt cave and herbal tea room.
Outside, a heated swimming pool faces the orchards, with an outdoor sauna at 85 °C and a cold Nordic bath at 10 °C. The spa welcomes guests over 16, which guarantees peace and quiet. Day packages start at €85, and the treatment menu includes massages and facials.
La Plume Gourmande, Alsace on the 4th floor
The hotel’s restaurant occupies the 4th floor, behind large bay windows. The view looks out over the Kirrwiller church tower, the plain and the hills, and the panoramic terrace takes over in fine weather. The cuisine pays tribute to the flavours of Alsace in a bistronomic style, using local producers.
The buffet breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:30 on weekdays and until 11:00 at weekends (€25). At lunchtime, a buffet is available for €39; in the evening, the à la carte menu is served from 19:00 to 21:30; on Sundays, a panoramic brunch is offered for €49. On show nights, guests usually dine at the music-hall, at the Majestic, then head back across the forecourt to sleep.
Sublime, 40 artists and a globe of death
The Royal Palace’s new revue, Sublime, was created on 29 August 2026 for the 2026-2027 season. It is directed by Jérémy Amelin, who was already at the helm of the Déesses and Parfum d’Étoiles revues. Forty artists share the stage, ranging from feather scenes to international circus acts and a grand finale.
The pace never drops. The revue scenes, with red feathers, giant butterflies and carnival themes, are matched by high-flying acts: Cyr wheel, hand-to-hand balancing, pole acrobatics and the globe of death, where several motorbikes spin inside a steel sphere. The auditorium, which seats nearly 1,000, is equipped with a huge LED wall, which the venue claims is the largest in Europe.
The evening is experienced as a dinner-show: the Majestic hosts up to 800 guests, under the direction of chef Bruno Schlewitz, and the Versailles, more intimate, accommodates 150. After the curtain falls, the Lounge Club and its two levels take over. With the hotel just across the forecourt, there is no need to worry about driving back: that is the main advantage of the package.
Why 9.7 out of 10
The Royal Palace Hôtel & Spa succeeds in doing what few places attempt: making a hotel the extension of a show. The setting, the architecture and the spa are on a par with the best addresses in the region, the welcome is attentive and warm, and the Sublime revue lives up to its promises. Only the location, in the heart of the countryside 30 minutes from Strasbourg, makes a car necessary.
